J. Cole

One of the best contemporary rappers, J. Cole got his big break when he was featured on Jay-Z’s album “The Blueprint 3.” Since then, he’s gone on to release several studio albums that have all been highly successful. His latest album, “4 Your Eyez Only,” was released in 2016 and reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar is one of the most popular hip hop artists today. His music is known for its catchy hooks and clever lyrics. Lamar has won several awards, including Grammys and BET Awards. He is also one of the most successful touring artists, selling out shows across the globe.

This week, we’re featuring Chance the Rapper. Born in 1993, Chancelor Bennett, also known by his stage name Chance the Rapper, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer from the West Chatham neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side. In 2013 he began to gain recognition following the release of his second mixtape, Acid Rap. Upon success of the mixtape he was signed to independent record label Caroline Records. Bennett is now signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label.

Drake is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He began his career as an actor in the early 2000s, before releasing his self-titled debut album in 2010. Drizzy has gone on to release eight studio albums, including two collaboration albums. He is one of the world’s best-selling music artists, with over 170 million records sold worldwide.

Drake’s music is often melodic and emotional, with lyrics that touch on subjects like family, friends, wealth, poverty, love, heartbreak, and fame. He has won four Grammy Awards and has been nominated for dozens more. In addition to his solo work, Drake is also a member of the hip hop group OVO Sound.

Cardi B

Cardi B is a hip hop artist who first gained popularity through her social media presence. She later released her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” in 2018, which reached number one on the Billboard 200. She has since released several other hit singles, including “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It.”

Travis Scott

If you’re looking for some new hip hop music to check out, look no further than Travis Scott. This rapper from Houston, Texas has been taking the music world by storm in recent years, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Gucci Mane

If you’re not familiar with Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane, you might want to catch up on your hip hop knowledge. Gucci Mane, born in 1980, is one of the most prolific and well-known rappers of our time. He’s released 12 studio albums, as well as dozens of mixtapes and collaborative projects. His latest album, “Evil Genius,” was released in December 2018 and features guest appearances from Quavo, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, andOffset.

Friday Fire

Today’s Friday Fire comes from up and coming artist XXX. Hailing from the Midwest, this rapper is quickly making a name for himself with his hard-hitting beats and lyrical prowess. Be sure to check out his latest single “Yada Yada” – it’s sure to get your head nodding.

Kodak Black

If you haven’t yet heard of Kodak Black, you will soon enough. The 20-year old rapper from Pompano Beach, Florida is taking the hip hop world by storm with his unique style and fresh sound.

Kodak Black got his start in music at a young age, rapping freestyle over instrumentals on YouTube. His first big break came in 2015 when he was featured on the song “No Flockin” by established artist Kyla. The song was a hit, and Kodak’s career took off from there.

Since then, he has released several mixtapes and singles, including the hits “Tunnel Vision” and “Roll in Peace.” He is currently signed to Atlantic Records and is working on his debut studio album.

19 year old Baton Rouge legend NBA Youngboy has been making waves in the hip hop community since his 2014 mixtape release.
