It’s already August and that means new music Friday is upon us yet again. This week’s new releases include new music from Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Drake. If you’re a fan of hip hop, then you’ll definitely want to check out these new releases. Keep reading to find out more about these new songs and albums.

Kendrick Lamar – DAMN.

Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. was one of the most anticipated hip-hop albums of 2017, and it did not disappoint. The album ended up being a critical and commercial success, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart and earning Kendrick his third consecutive Platinum album. With DAMN., Kendrick cemented his place as one of the greatest rappers of all time, and the album is filled with amazing tracks from start to finish. If you’re a fan of hip-hop, or just great music in general, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. is definitely an album that you need to check out.

J. Cole – 4 Your Eyez Only

On December 9, 2016, Cole announced via Twitter that he had completed work on his fourth studio album, which was later revealed to be titled 4 Your Eyez Only. The album was released on December 9, 2016, exactly two years after the release of his previous album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The album’s lead single, “Deja Vu”, was produced by Cole himself and released on August 7, 2017.

Chance the Rapper – Coloring Book

Chance the Rapper’s highly anticipated third mixtape, Coloring Book, was finally released in May of 2016, to critical acclaim. The project debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 and received widespread praise from fans and critics alike. Chance has continued to release new music since then, but Coloring Book remains his most successful project to date.

Jay-Z – 4:44

On June 30, 2017, Jay-Z released his thirteenth studio album, 4:44. The album was met with critical acclaim, with many critics praising Jay-Z’s lyrical prowess and ability to reflect on his past mistakes. In addition to being a commercial success, the album also debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Logic – Everybody

Logic – Everybody

With his third studio album, the Maryland-born rapper continues to impress with his intricate rhyme schemes and lyrical dexterity. “Everybody” is a powerful and timely album that tackles social issues like race, mental health, and suicide with honesty and emotion. Tyler, the Creator – Flower Boy

After weeks of speculation, Tyler, the Creator has finally released his highly-anticipated new album, Flower Boy. The album is a departure from Tyler’s earlier work, with a more mellow and introspective sound. Songs like “See You Again” and “Boredom” explore themes of love and anxiety, while “Who Dat Boy” and “911 / Mr. Lonely” are more light-hearted fare. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Tyler or just getting into his music, Flower Boy is an album not to be missed.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie – The Bigger Artist

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s debut album, The Bigger Artist is set to release on August 25, 2017. The project will feature the single “Drowning” which has peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cardi B – Invasion of Privacy

On October 27th, 2016, Cardi B released her debut mixtape, Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1. The tape put Cardi on the map and helped her land a record deal with Atlantic. In the year since she’s released three singles — “Bodak Yellow,” “Bartier Cardi,” and “Be Careful” — that have all charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Now, the Bronx native is ready to release her debut album, Invasion of Privacy. The 13-track project features guest appearances from Migos, Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, and more. Production comes from a variety of heavy hitters including Murda Beatz, DJ Mustard, J. White Did It, and Cardi herself.

Lil Uzi Vert – Luv Is Rage 2

On August 25, 2017, Lil Uzi Vert will be releasing his long-awaited album Luv Is Rage 2. The album is a sequel to his breakthrough mixtape Luv Is Rage, which was released in October 2015. The first single from the album, “XO TOUR Llif3”, was released in February 2017 and peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100. The second single, “Sauce It Up”, was released in June 2017.
