J. Cole

J. Cole is an American rapper and producer. He was born on January 28, 1985, in Frankfurt, Germany, but was raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Cole dropped out of college to pursue a music career, and released his first mixtape in 2007. He later signed with Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation and released his debut album, ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’, in 2011. His fourth studio album, ‘4 Your Eyez Only’, was released in 2016 and went platinum. Cole has won several BET and Grammy awards, and is considered one of the best rappers of his generation.

Kendrick Lamar just released his new album, DAMN. and it’s already making waves. The album is a tour de force, exploring themes of race, religion, and politics. Kendrick is one of the most important voices in hip hop today, and this album is sure to solidify his place in the genre.

Chance the Rapper is a name that has been on everybody’s lips over the past few years. The young rapper from Chicago has stolen the hearts of music lovers all over the world with his unique style and incredible lyrics.

Chance first gained recognition after the release of his mixtape ‘Acid Rap’ in 2013, which received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. He followed this up with the release of his second mixtape ‘Coloring Book’ in 2016, which was equally well-received.

21 Savage is an Atlanta-based hip hop recording artist, songwriter and record producer. He first entered the music scene with the release of his debut mixtape, The Slaughter Tape, in 2015. His subsequent mixtapes, Free Gucci (2016) and Slaughter King (2016), were both well-received by fans and critics alike.

21 Savage’s debut studio album, Issa Album, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. The album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and included the singles “Bank Account” and “X”. 21 Savage has been featured on a number of hit songs, including Post Malone’s “Rockstar” and “Congratulations”, Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA” and “Humble”, Drake’s “Sicko Mode”, Cardi B’s “Bartier Cardi” and Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO TOUR Llif3”.

In 2019, 21 Savage was nominated for two Grammy Awards, Best Rap Song for “Rockstar” and Best Rap Performance for “Bank Account”. He has also been nominated for four BET Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards and two American Music Awards.

Kodak Black

Kodak Black is an American rapper from Florida. He is best known for his singles “Roll in Peace”, “Tunnel Vision”, and “No Flockin'”. He first gained attention in 2016 with the release of his mixtape, Project Baby. Kodak Black has been featured on numerous hip hop publications, including XXL and Billboard.

“I’m the One” is a song recorded by American rapper DJ Khaled featuring American singers Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne. It was released on April 28, 2017, by We the Best and Epic Records as the lead single from Khaled’s tenth studio album Grateful (2017). The song is produced by PapaSkunk and Cardo.

“Humble”

Humble is a song by American rapper Kendrick Lamar. It was released on March 30, 2017, through Top Dawg Entertainment, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. The song was produced by Mike Will Made It, with co-production from Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and additional production from Sounwave and DJ Dahi. The song’s lyrics are written in first person perspective and center on themes of wealth, fame and Kendrick’s overall frustrations with the overwhelming levels of success he has earned. “Humble” peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand. It received four nominations at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards; including Record of the Year, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, winning the latter two.

The official music video for “Humble” was directed by Dave Meyers & The Little Homies. The visuals are audacious and references a variety of religious iconography such as The Last Supper as well as scenes alluding to Lamars’ own life story. Consequently, it became Lamar’s most viewed YouTube video upon release, accumulating over 65 million views within its first week.

“DNA”

“DNA” is a song by American rapper Kendrick Lamar. It was released on April 7, 2017, as the lead single from his fourth studio album Damn. The song features vocals from American rapper and fellow Top Dawg Entertainment label-mate, Schoolboy Q. The song peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The music video for “DNA” was released on April 11, 2017 and was directed by Nabil Elderkin. The video features cameo appearances from look-alikes of various fictional characters and celebrities, including Donald Trump, Barack Obama, Bill O’Reilly, Harvey Weinstein, and Lamar himself as the younger version of him.

“Mask Off”

“Mask Off” is a song by American rapper Future. It was released on April 18, 2017 as the third single from his eponymous fifth studio album, Future (2017). The song features production from frequent collaborator Metro Boomin, and features a flute loop sampled from the 1971 song “Prison Song” by Tommy Butler.

Humble is a track off of Kendrick Lamar’s new album, DAMN. The track features production from Mike Will Made-It and samples ’90s R&B group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. The track is a bass-heavy banger that finds Kendrick bragging about his success and status.
