1986’s Midnight to Midnight was another Top 40 success in both countries and produced the hit single ” Heartbreak Beat”, which reached number one on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart. The follow-up album, 1989’s Book of Days, failed to match its predecessor’s commercial success but still managed to peak at number 41 on the UK Albums Chart.

After touring in support of Book of Days, the Psychedelic Furs went on hiatus until 2000 when they reformed for a series of live shows and released a greatest hits album, Beautiful Chaos: Greatest Hits Live.
