There’s a new crop of psychedelic rock bands making waves in the music scene, and we’ve got the scoop on who to keep an eye out for in 2012. From hazy, reverb-drenched soundscapes to jangly, 60s-inspired pop, these bands are sure to get you trip-ping.

Hozier

Hozier is a Psychedelic Rock band from Ireland that is quickly gaining popularity in the US. Their debut self-titled album was released in 2013 and they have been touring extensively since then. their music has a dark, atmospheric sound that is reminiscent of The Doors and early Pink Floyd.

The Paper Kites

The Paper Kites are an Australian indie folk-rock band from Melbourne, Victoria. The band currently consists of Sam Bentley, Christina Lacy, David Powys, Sam Rasmussen and Josh Bentley. The Paper Kites have released two EPs, Woodland and Forest fires. The band’s debut album States was released in September 2012.

The band’s music has been compared to that of Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver and Nick Drake.

The Paper Kites originally formed as a three-piece in 2010, with Sam Bentley on lead vocals and guitar, Christina Lacy on bass guitar and Sam Rasmussen on drums.

The Paper Kites are an Australian five-piece folk rock band from Melbourne, Victoria. The band consists of Sam Bentley, Christina Lacy, David Powys, Sam Nicholson and Josh Bentley.

The Paper Kites neo-folk sound is built around acoustic guitars and banjo with a gently rolling rhythm section and spacious melodies reminiscent of Fleet Foxes or Midlake. The falsetto vocal interplay between Sam Bentley and Christina Lacy gives the band a distinctive edge, with their close harmonies sounding something like Simon & Garfunkel mixed with Nick Drake.

The band has released two EPs (Woodland and States) and are currently working on their debut album.
