Best Gospel Albums of 2014

It’s been an amazing year for Gospel music, with so many great new albums being released. Here are my personal picks for the best Gospel albums of 2014.

Lecrae – Anomaly

If you’re a fan of rap music, then you’ll love Lecrae’s latest album, Anomaly. This Christian hip hop album topped the Billboard 200 chart and received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Featuring tracks like “All I Need is You” and “Nuthin”, Anomaly is sure to please any gospel music lover.

Tasha Cobbs – Heart. Passion. Pursuit.

The past year has been a great one for gospel music, with some amazing albums being released by some of the genre’s biggest stars. One of the best of these was Tasha Cobbs’ “Heart. Passion. Pursuit.”, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and has since been certified Gold by the RIAA.

“Heart. Passion. Pursuit.” features some of Cobbs’ best work to date, including the singles “Put a Ring on It” and “I’m Getting Ready”. If you’re a fan of gospel music, this is an album you definitely need to check out.

Kirk Franklin – Losing My Religion

Kirk Franklin’s “Losing My Religion” is one of the best gospel albums of 2014. It is a return to form for the singer, who had been struggling creatively in recent years. The album is full of catchy hooks and radio-friendly tracks, but it also has a few more contemplative and personal moments. Franklin’s vocals are as strong as ever, and the production is top-notch. Overall, “Losing My Religion” is a winning entry in the ever-growing canon of great gospel music.

Tasha Cobbs – Break Every Chain

Break Every Chain is a song performed by American gospel artist Tasha Cobbs. The song was released in 2013 as the lead single from her debut studio album Grace (2014). Lecrae – All I Need is You

Lecrae’s seventh studio album, Anomaly, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making it his second album to do so after 2012’s Gravity. The record was lead by the single “All I Need is You,” which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Lecrae’s highest charting single as a solo artist.

Kirk Franklin – Love Theory

Kirk Franklin’s chart-topping lead single from his first album in four years, “Hello Fear,” made quite an impact, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the stellar follow-up, “Love Theory.” Penned by Franklin and produced by Aaron W. Lindsey, “Love Theory” is a funky call to love one another that oozes with relevance. As always, Kirk’s Gospel choir is on full display, belting out some of the most memorable melodies and harmonies of the year.
