They have also released 5 live albums and 3 compilations. The Newsboys have had 8 number one singles on various charts, including 7 consecutive number ones on the radio station Air1.

The Newsboys originally formed in Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia in 1985. The original members were Peter Furler (lead vocals), George Perdikis (drums), John James (bass guitar), and Philip Urry (guitar). The group relocated to the United States in 1987 in pursuit of a recording contract and they were soon signed to Star Song Communications. Their first album, Read All About It, was released in 1988 and spawned the hit singles “I’m Not Ashamed” and “Shine”.
