History of the Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux. It was first published in serial form in the French newspaper Le Gaulois from September 23, 1909, to January 8, 1910. The novel was published in book form in 1910. It was later adapted into a play, a film, and an opera. The novel tells the story of a phantom who lives in the underground of the Paris Opera House and falls in love with a beautiful singer.

The Original Story

The story of the Phantom of the Opera is one that has been told many times, in many different ways. Gaston Leroux first introduced the character of the Phantom in his 1911 novel The Phantom of the Opera, and since then, the story has been adapted for film, television, and stage.

The original story follows a young soprano named Christine Daaé, who is chosen to be the lead singer in a new Opera production. The Broadway Musical
