In this blog post, I’ll be discussing how pop music has gone Persian with the rise of artists like Sasy Mankan and Arash.

Intro

In the last few years, Persian pop music has become increasingly popular in the Western world. This is likely due to the rise of streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music, which have made it easier for people to discover new music from all over the world. Persian pop music is a fairly new genre, but it’s already making waves in the music industry.

What is Persian pop music?

Persian pop music, also known as Iranian pop music or Parsipop, refers to the type of pop music originating in Iran. The genre emerged in the early 2010s and is often based on Iranian folk and classical music. Persian pop songs are usually performed in the Persian language.

There has been a recent surge in popularity of Persian pop music, both inside and outside of Iran. In 2012, MTV Iggy named Iranian singer Ingrid Michaelson as one of the “Top 5 Musical Innovators You Need to Know.” In 2015, The Huffington Post included Iranian-American singer-songwriter Andy Madadian on their list of ” HuffPost’s 50 Favorite Male Pop Stars Right Now.”

The increasing popularity of Persian pop music is likely due to a combination of factors, including the increasing global popularity of Iranian culture and the spread of social media platforms which have made it easier for Iranians living abroad to connect with each other and share their music. Whatever the reason, it’s clear that Persian pop music is here to stay!

History of Persian pop music

The history of Persian pop music can be traced back to the early 20th century, with the advent of radio broadcasting in Iran. Persian pop music developed slowly, due in part to the country’s political and cultural isolation from the outside world. Despite this, however, a number of Iranian musicians were able to achieve success in the field, developing a unique sound that blended elements of Western and Eastern music.

One of the first Persian pop stars was Vigen Derderian, who rose to fame in the mid-2040s with his catchy blend of traditional Iranian folk music and Western pop. His popularity soon spread beyond Iran’s borders, and he soon became a household name in neighboring countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the 1960s and 1970s, a new wave of Persian pop artists emerged, including superstars like Dariush Eghbali and Googoosh. These performers took the sound of Iranian pop music in a new direction, experimenting with different styles and sounds.

The 1980s saw a decline in Persian pop music due to the Islamic Revolution, which banned many Western influences from Iran. However, in the 1990s and 2000s, Iranian pop music made a comeback, led by artists like Mohsen Namjoo and Ebi. Today, Persian pop music is enjoying something of a renaissance, thanks to streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

The current state of Persian pop music

Persian pop music has come a long way since the days of Hassan Shamaizadeh and Googoosh. Today, there is a new generation of Persian musicians who are taking the genre by storm. These artists are fusing traditional Persian music with modern pop, hip-hop, and R&B to create a sound that is all their own.

The popularity of Persian pop music

Persian pop music has been gaining in popularity in recent years, both inside and outside of Iran. In fact, some of the biggest names in international pop music, such as Rihanna and Justin Bieber, have been known to incorporate elements of Persian pop into their own music.

There are a number of factors that have contributed to the popularity of Persian pop music. One is the increasing number of Iranians living outside of Iran, in places like the United States, Canada, and Europe. These Iranians often crave the music of their homeland, and thanks to the internet, they are able to access it more easily than ever before.

Another factor is the increasing number of non-Iranians who are exposed to Persian culture through movies, TV shows, and other forms of entertainment. Thanks to this exposure, they are becoming more interested in Persian pop music and are seeking it out more often.

Whatever the reason for its popularity, there is no doubt that Persian pop music is on the rise and looks poised to continue its ascent in the years to come.

The influence of Persian pop music

Persian pop music has been around for centuries, but it wasn’t until the early 20th century that it began to gain international popularity. In the 1950s and 60s, a new wave of Persian pop artists emerged, blending traditional Persian music with Western styles. This new sound quickly gained popularity in Iran and the surrounding countries, and by the 1970s, Persian pop music was a well-established genre.

The 1980s saw a decline in Persian pop music’s popularity, as the Islamic Revolution led to a ban on many Western influences. However, in the 1990s and 2000s, Persian pop music made a comeback, thanks to a new generation of Iranian artists who were influenced by both Western and Persian musical traditions. Today, Persian pop music is more popular than ever before, with artists like Googoosh, Ebi, and Mohsen Chavoshi achieving international fame.

While Persian pop music has often been overshadowed by its Western counterpart, it has nevertheless had a significant impact on the development of popular music around the world. In recent years, Persian pop music has been increasingly influential in the development of trap music and EDM. Persian trap artists like Salome MC and Sohrab MJ have achieved global popularity by blending traditional trap beats with elements of Persian pop music. Similarly, EDM producers like Artyom Stolzoff have incorporating Middle Eastern scales and rhythms into their work.

As Persia’s musical influence continues to grow around the world, there’s no doubt that we’ll see even more innovative fusion genres emerge in the years to come.

The future of Persian pop music

It’s been a long time coming, but Persian pop music is finally starting to make waves in the mainstream. For years, the genre has been bubbling under the surface, with a dedicated but niche following. But now, it seems that Persian pop is poised to take over the airwaves.

The direction of Persian pop music

The direction of Persian pop music is currently in a state of flux, with artists experimenting with new sounds and styles while still maintain ties to the genre’s roots. This has led to a more diverse and interesting array of music coming out of Iran in recent years, and it seems likely that this trend will continue.

One of the most exciting developments has been the rise of female singers in the Persian pop sphere. For many years, female performers were largely relegated to the role of backup singer or sidekick, but there has been a pronounced shift in recent years towards more equality. This has resulted in some truly incredible music being made by Iranian women, and it is hopeful that this trend will continue in the years to come.

In terms of style, Persian pop music has traditionally been very melody-driven, with intricate lyrics often taking a secondary role. However, there has been a move away from this in recent years, with some artists instead opting for a more lyrically-focused approach. This has led to some exciting new directions for the genre, and it will be interesting to see how this develops in the future.

Overall, Persian pop music is currently undergoing something of a renaissance. There are more artists than ever before who are pushing boundaries and experimenting with new sounds, and this is resulting in some truly exciting and innovative music being made. It is hoped that this trend will continue in the years to come, as it would undoubtedly result in even more great music coming out of Iran.

The impact of Persian pop music

Persian pop music has been gaining in popularity in recent years, and its impact is being felt beyond the borders of Iran.

Persian pop music is a relatively new genre, drawing on a mix of traditional Persian music and Western pop and electronic dance music. It first came to prominence in the early 2000s, with artists such as Googoosh and Morteza becoming household names in Iran.

Since then, Persian pop music has gone from strength to strength, with a new generation of artists taking the genre in exciting new directions. Persian pop is now being heard all over the world, thanks to the internet and social media platforms such as YouTube and Spotify.

The popularity of Persian pop music is having a positive impact on perceptions of Iran and Iranians. For many young people outside of Iran, Persian pop is their introduction to Iranian culture. Through the music, they are exposed to Iranian values and traditions, which can help to break down stereotypes and prejudice.

Persian pop music is also helping to foster a sense of pride in Iranian culture among young Iranians themselves. In a time when many young Iranians are feeling disconnected from their heritage, Persian pop provides a connection to their roots and gives them a source of pride in their culture.

The future of Persian pop music looks bright, with new artists continuing to emerge and take the genre in exciting new directions. It is hoped that the positive impact of Persian pop will continue to grow in the years ahead, helping to bring people together and promote understanding between cultures.
