Out-of-town events

There are plenty of great out-of-town events on the Portland Folk Music Calendar! Here are some of our favorites:

The Newport Folk Festival is one of the most iconic folk music festivals in the country, and it takes place just a few hours south of Portland in Newport, Rhode Island. The three-day festival features tons of great folk musicians from all over the world, and it’s definitely worth the trip if you’re a fan of the genre.

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is another great option for folks looking to travel a bit for their music fix. The festival takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia (just a few hours north of Portland) and features an eclectic mix of folk, world, and roots music. If you’re looking for something a little different, this is definitely the festival for you.

Finally, the Philadelphia Folk Festival is a bit further away than the others on this list (it’s located in…you guessed it…Philadelphia), but it’s definitely worth the trip if you’re able to make it. The festival boasts an impressive lineup of folk musicians each year, and there’s also plenty of great food and drink to be had.
