Take a look at some of the most popular psychedelic rock artists who are still making music today.

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix is one of the most influential guitarists in rock history and a true icon of the psychedelic rock era. His innovative style combined blues, jazz, and R&B with feedback and distortion to create some of the most unforgettable riffs and solos of all time. Though he only released three studio albums before his untimely death at the age of 27, his legacy has continued to inspire generations of guitarists and music lovers alike.

Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin was an American singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the late 1960s as the lead singer of the psychedelic rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. She was known for her powerful vocals and her uncompromising commitment to her music and her fans. Joplin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

The Doors

The Doors were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore. They were one of the most controversial and influential rock acts of the 1960s because of Morrison’s lyrics and charismatic but unpredictable stage persona. After Morrison’s death in 1971 at the age of 27, the remaining members continued as a trio until disbanding in 1973.

Although they were commonly associated with the counterculture of the 1960s, the Doors also attracted a large mainstream following; according to Manzarek, they sold over 100 million records during their career. The band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and they were included on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time.” In 1993, they were ranked number 41 on VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock”.

Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin was an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, they are regularly cited as one of the progenitors of heavy metal, although their style drew from a variety of sources, including blues and folk music.

Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd is one of the most iconic and well-known psychedelic rock bands of all time. Formed in 1965, the group is known for their experimental and innovative music, as well as their highly influential concept albums. Many of Pink Floyd’s songs explore social and political themes, and their live shows are renowned for their use of colourful visual effects. The band has sold over 200 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
