The Songs

The Music is a psychedelic rock band from Long Beach, California. The band was formed in late 1966 by three high school students: Michael Fenn (lead vocals, bass), Robert212 (lead guitar, vocals), and Brian Wilson (drums). The band’s first gig was at a party in Robert’s garage, and they quickly began playing shows around Southern California.

The Music’s early sound was influenced by British Invasion bands such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as American garage rock bands such as the Standells and the13th Floor Elevators. As their sound developed, they began incorporating elements of psychedelic rock, garage punk, and proto-punk into their songs. The band’s impending demise was first hinted at when Robert decided to leave the group in early 1968; he was replaced by David Marks, who had previously played with Brian in an earlier incarnation of the band.

Michael, Brian, and David continued to play shows throughout 1968, but it was evident that the band’s days were numbered. They recorded a final single—”It’s All Right” b/w “She Lost You”—which was released on Psychedelic Rock Records in January 1969. The band played their last show together in March 1969, after which they went their separate ways.

The Legacy

On August 8th 1966 in Long Beach, California a Psychedelic Rock band was formed that would change music forever. This band was named Love and their first album, Forever Changes, would cement them as not only one of the best Psychedelic Rock bands of all time, but one of the best rock bands period.

The Influence

The Legacy was a psychedelic rock band from Long Beach, California, USA, that was active from 1966 to 1968. The band’s music was influential on the development of psychedelic rock and served as a major inspiration for the formation of the jam band movement.

The Legacy was formed in 1966 by singer/guitarist Jimi Hendrix and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The band also featured bassist Billy Cox and guitarist Larry Young. Hendrix, Mitchell, and Young were all accomplished jazz musicians, and their experience played a major role in shaping the Legacy’s sound.

The Legacy only released one album during their brief career, 1968’s Psychedelic Rock Experience. The album failed to make a significant impact commercially, but it has since become highly regarded by fans of psychedelic rock. Psychedelic Rock Experience is now considered one of the most important albums in the genre’s history.

After the release of Psychedelic Rock Experience, Hendrix left the Legacy to form the Jimi Hendrix Experience. The remaining members of the band attempted to carry on without Hendrix, but they were unable to match his level of success and disbanded shortly thereafter.

Despite their brief career, the Legacy left a lasting impact on music. Their innovative fusion of jazz and rock inspired many subsequent artists and bands, including the Grateful Dead, Phish, Widespread Panic, and Umphrey’s McGee. The Legacy’s influence can still be heard in modern music, making them one of the most important bands in psychedelia’s history.

The Fans

The energy at a The Legacy concert is palpable. The fans are some of the most dedicated and enthusiastic you’ll ever encounter. They come from all walks of life, but they share a love for the music. You’ll see people young and old, male and female, all enjoying the show.
