Introduction

Welcome to the fifth and final season of Queer as Folk. We’ve compiled a list of music from the show for your listening pleasure. This season features a mixture of pop, rock, and dance tunes that will get your feet moving. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sounds of Queer as Folk.

The Music of Season 5

The Opening Sequence

Each episode of Queer as Folk begins with a short sequence set to music. The sequence for season five, set to DJ Sammy’s “Heaven”, features Brian and Justin waking up in bed together, Justin getting ready for his day, Brian working at his advertising agency, Michael and Ben playing with their son Gus, Melanie and Lindsay having coffee together, Debbie working at the diner, Ted and Emmett out on a date, and finally Brian and Justin reunited at the end of the day.

The Club Scenes

The club scenes in Queer as Folk’s fifth season are some of the most visually and sonically stimulating moments in the series. They are also some of the most sexually charged and emotionally charged scenes, as the characters let loose on the dance floor and in the privacy of their own homes.

The music in these scenes is a mix of pop, dance, and electronica, with a healthy dose of disco thrown in for good measure. The songs reflect the characters’ upbeat moods as they enjoy each other’s company and celebrate their lives.

Some of the standout tracks include Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love,” which plays over a montage of Brian and Justin dancing at Babylon; Madonna’s “Music,” which plays over a montage of all the characters dancing at Babylon; and Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” which plays over a montage of Brian and Justin kissing in the rain.

The music in these scenes helps to create an atmosphere of joy and happiness, which is a welcome respite from the heavier plotlines that dominate the rest of the season.

The Bedroom Scenes

There are several important bedroom scenes in season 5 of Queer as Folk, and the music played in these scenes is significant. The first is Michael and Brian’s love scene set to “All About Us” by Plants and Animals. This song reflects the intense emotional connection between the two men, and the lyrics speak to their deep commitment to one another.

The second bedroom scene is the threesome between Justin, Daphne, and Brian. The song playing in this scene is “Papers” by Lotus Plaza, which reflects the complicated feelings of all three characters involved. The lyrics speak to the confusion and uncertainty of young love, which is something that all three characters are experiencing.

The final bedroom scene is between Michael and Ben. The song playing in this scene is “I Want You” by Savage Garden, which reflects the deep love and connection between these two men. The lyrics speak to the intensity of their feelings for one another and their desire to be together.

The Significance of the Music

In the show’s final season, the music takes on a more significant role than ever before. The series finale, “All Good Things Must Come to an End”, features a montage of iconic moments from the show set to the original song ” True Love Ways” by Justin Taylor. As the characters say their goodbyes and head their separate ways, the music helps to underscore the emotional impact of the scene.

The Opening Sequence

The opening sequence of Queer as Folk features the song “All Things to All People” by the British band Oasis. The lyrics of the song speak to the idea of inclusion and open-mindedness, which are two themes that are central to the show. The use of this song in the opening sequence sets the tone for the series and provides a glimpse into the characters’ lives and relationships.

The Club Scenes

The Club Scenes are some of the most significant pieces of music featured in “Queer as Folk.” They show the characters letting loose and enjoying themselves, dancing and flirting with one another. They also represent the queer community coming together in a safe space to be themselves. The music in these scenes is high energy and fun, and it always gets the characters (and viewers) moving.

The Bedroom Scenes

In the later seasons of Queer as Folk, the music became more significant, particularly in the bedroom scenes. In these scenes, the characters would often be shown making love to each other to the accompaniment of popular love songs. The music would help to set the mood and create a more sensual atmosphere.

The choice of music was always carefully considered, and it was often used to echo what was happening in the storyline. For example, in one scene, two characters are shown making love to each other while the song “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston plays in the background. This song was chosen because it reflected the depth of feeling between the two characters.

The use of music in these scenes helped to create a more intimate and emotional experience for the viewers. It also served as a reminder that, despite all the difficulties they faced, these characters were still able to find happiness and love with each other.
