What is Reggae House?

Reggae House is a subgenre of Reggae that fused with House music. The result is a catchy, fun, and often danceable blend of the two genres.

Reggae House originated in the late 1980s, in Jamaica. It was created by Jamaican producers who were influenced by the then-popular genre of House music. The new genre combined the catchiness of House music with the laid-back vibes of Reggae.

The first Reggae House track is believed to be “Reggae Wants to Party” by Jamaican artist Colonel Mite. The track was released in 1988 and quickly became a hit in Jamaica. It wasn’t long before other Jamaican producers began creating their own Reggae House tracks.

In the early 1990s, Reggae House began to gain popularity outside of Jamaica. The genre spread to Europe and the United States, where it found an audience among both Reggae and House fans.

Reggae House continued to evolve throughout the 1990s and 2000s, as producers incorporated elements of other genres, such as Hip Hop, Dancehall, and R&B. As a result, Reggae House has become an incredibly diverse and dynamic genre.

Today, Reggae House is enjoyed by fans all over the world. It remains one of the most popular subgenres of Reggae music.
