Jamaican singer Chezidek has been through a lot in his life, including losing his sight due to glaucoma, but thankfully he’s still able to make great music. The Order of Melody is one of his best albums to date, and features the singles “Call Pon Dem” and “Never Trouble Nobody”.

9. Addis Pablo – Skylarking
The son of late legendary reggae artist Augustus Pablo, Addis Pablo is keeping his father’s legacy alive withSkylarking. The album features a number of Augustus’ classic riddims reworked with modern production techniques, and is a must-hear for any fan of roots reggae.

8. Alborosie – Freedom & Fyah
Alborosie is one of the most respected artists in reggae today, and for good reason. His latest album Freedom & Fyah is a masterclass in roots reggae, and features guest appearances from legends like Capleton, Junior Reid, and Luciano. If you’re looking for some true roots reggae music, this is the album for you.

7. Chronixx – Chronology
Jamaican singer Chronixx made waves with his 2014 debut album Dread & Terrible, but he truly comes into his own on his follow-up effort Chronology. The album is packed with solid songs from start to finish, including the singles “Likes” and “Skankin’ Sweet”. If you’re not familiar with Chronixx yet, this is a great place to start.

6. J Boog – Wash House Ting
Hawaii-based artist J Boog made his name in the world of dancehall, but on his latest album Wash House Ting he takes things in a different direction by exploring roots reggae instead. The result is an excellent album that should please fans of both genres alike. Standout tracks include “Civilized Reggae” and “No Other Lovin’”.
