You would be hard-pressed to find a more energetic and vibrant opening track on an album than 2 Chainz’ “Trap Check.” From the very first second, the melodies and 808s combine to create an addicting sound that is only heightened by the sheer charisma and exuberance of 2 Chainz’ delivery. The lyrics are unsurprisingly great as well, with 2 Chainz rapping about his lavish lifestyle with lines like, “I’m living better than a king/Cause ever since a youngin’, my cocaine spoke to me.” “Trap Check” is the perfect introduction to 2 Chainz’ excellent 2017 album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, and it’s also one of the best short songs in hip hop period.

J. Cole- “ATM”

“ATM” is a song by American hip hop artist J. Cole, from his album KOD. The song was released as the album’s fourth single on May 22, 2018.

“ATM” is a bass-heavy track with a minimalist beat and features Cole reflecting on his material possessions and how they do not bring him happiness. The song’s title is an acronym for “All this money/All these things/And I’m still unhappy”.

The music video for “ATM” was released on May 22, 2018 and was directed by Scott Lazer. The video features Cole in a black-and-white filter reflecting on his life and success while walking through different parts of New York City.

Kendrick Lamar- “DNA”

“DNA” is a song by American rapper Kendrick Lamar, from his fourth studio album Damn, released on April 14, 2017. The song peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it Lamar’s highest-charting single of his career as a lead artist. On May 15, 2017, the music video for “DNA” was released on Lamar’s VEVO channel. The video features don rolex watches migrant workers picking strawberries in a field as a metaphor for how Lamar’s African ancestors were brought over to America as slaves.
