“Amor” by Gloria Estefan

“Amor” (English: “Love”) is a song recorded by Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan for her ninth studio album, Abriendo Puertas (1995). It was released as the lead single from the album on January 16, 1996. The song was written by Estefan, Jon Secada, and Emilio Estefan Jr., and produced by Emilio Estefan Jr. and Kike Santander.

“Amor” is a ballad that contains elements of Latin music. The song’s lyrics focus on the feeling of being in love, and its Spanish-language title translates to “Love”. “Amor” received positive reviews from music critics, who praised its production and Estefan’s vocals. The song peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance at the 38th Annual Grammy Awards in 1996.

The original version of “Hips Don’t Lie” peaked at number forty-four on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in multiple countries including Australia, Belgium (Flanders), Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain and Switzerland. The song became one of Shakira’s most successful singles worldwide and is one of the best-selling singles of all time. To date, “Hips Don’t Lie” has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide making it one of the best-selling singles ever released by a female artist.

A reworked version of “Hips Don’t Lie”, featuring Colombian singer Maluma was included on the deluxe edition of El Dorado (2017). The reworked version peaked at number fifty on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became another commercial success for Shakira worldwide.

“Baila” by Ricky Martin

“Baila” is a song recorded by Ricky Martin. It was released on June 1, 1999 as the lead single from his fourth studio album, Venezuela (1999). The song was written by Martin and Robi Rosa, and produced by Afo Verde, Pete Masitti and Desmond Child.

A Spanish-language version of the song, entitled “Vuelve”, was also included on the album. Upon its release, “Baila” received generally positive reviews from music critics. Many praised it for its uptempo Latin sound and deemed it as one of the best tracks from Venezuela. Commercially, the song was a success; it peaked at number one in Spain and became a top ten hit in several European countries including France, Italy and Switzerland. In the United States, “Baila” peaked at number seventeen on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.

The accompanying music video for “Baila” was directed by Wayne Isham and filmed in Miami. The video shows Martin performing various dance routines with his backup dancers in different colorful locations around the city. It became popular on music channels such as MTV Latino and Circuito Rexona-Claro. To promote the song, Martin performed it live on several television programs including CD:UK in the United Kingdom and The Rosie O’Donnell Show in the United States; he also included it on all of his tours throughout his career.

The song was written by Desmond Child and Draco Rosa and produced by Child, Kuk Harrell, and Rosa. A Spanish-language version of the song topped the charts in many countries including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and Venezuela. In the United States, the English-language version peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks.
