History

Sony Music Latin was established in 1997 with the merger of two record labels, Discos CBS Internacional and Latin American operations of Sony Music International. The merger created Sony Discos, the Latin music division of Sony Music. In 2003, Sony Discos was rebranded as Sony Norte and later as Sony BMG Norte. In 2009, after the departure of BMG, it was renamed as Sony Music Latin.
The label has offices in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and Mexico City. In recent years, the label has signed many successful artists such as Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Miguel Bosé, Sin Bandera, Paula Fernandes and Camila.
