Best of the Best

While the game features many wonderful tracks, the character select music is arguably some of the best. In this article, we’ll be taking a look at the best of the best, the cream of the crop, the top of the heap when it comes to Soul Calibur character select music.

Astaroth

Astaroth is a demon in the Soul series of video games. He made his debut in the original Soulcalibur, and has returned for Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur Legends, and Soulcalibur IV. In the series, he is often at odds with Siegfried Schtauffen.

Astaroth is a golem, created by the dark sorcerer Necrid to serve as his bodyguard. Astaroth is an immensely powerful warrior, and his great strength allows him to wield his large axe with ease. His primary fighting style revolves around brute force and overwhelming his opponents with his large size and strength.

Nightmare

Nightmare (ナイトメア, Naitomea) is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. He made his first appearance in the original Soulcalibur and has returned for Soulcalibur II, III, IV, Broken Destiny, V and VI. In the latter three games, there are two versions of Nightmare: “Creator/Destroyer” and ” Mercenary/Savior”. In Soulcalibur V’s promotional material and ingame character bios, he is known as the “Blade Master”. Nightmare is considered to be the main antagonist of the series.

Nightmare’s original design was that of a black-clad swordsman with a demonic appearance who wielded a red longsword. In later games, his armor became more ornate and his color palette shifted to shades of blue. During the time skip between Soulcalibur IV and V, Nightmare was corrupted by the influence of those wielding Soul Edge and lost his sanity, becoming possessed by the demonic blade himself. As a result, his physical appearance changed to match that of Siegfried Schtauffen when he was possessed by Chaos.

Siegfried

Siegfried Schtauffen is one of the main protagonists in the Soul series of fighting games. He is a German swordsman who dons grey armor and wields a large zweihänder named Soul Edge. In his youth, Siegfried witnessed the death of his father at the hands of Nightmare, which drove him insane and caused him to take on the identity of “Nightmare” himself. After eventually regaining his sanity and learning the truth about his past, Siegfried destroys Nightmare for good and purges Soul Edge from his body, though at the cost of losing his memories in the process.

Ivy

Ivy is one of the original characters in the Soul Calibur series, and she has been a mainstay ever since. She is a skilled fencer who uses a snake-like whip as her primary weapon. Her fighting style is very acrobatic and utilizes a lot of quick, powerful strikes. She is considered to be one of the best Soul Calibur characters and is often selected by top players in tournaments.

Voldo

From his first appearance in Soul Edge through to the most recent entry in the series, Voldo has always been one of the creepiest, yet most popular characters in Soul Calibur. With his unique style of fighting and his disturbing appearance, Voldo is a fan-favorite for many players.

While he hasn’t had many changes throughout the years, Voldo’s moveset and gameplay have always been fun and engaging. In fact, many players consider him to be one of the best characters in the game. Whether you’re a fan of his fighting style or not, there’s no denying that Voldo is a top-tier character that is always a blast to play as.

The Rest

Let’s be honest, the real reason you’re here is to listen to some sweet character select music from Soul Calibur, right? I don’t blame you. The music in that game is amazing. In this article, we’ll be countdown the top 10 best character select tracks in Soul Calibur.

Mitsurugi

Mitsurugi is one of the original characters in the Soul series of fighting games. He is a skilled swordsman who wields a katana. Mitsurugi is voiced by Jamieson Price in the English version of the games.

Mitsurugi has appeared in every main installment of the Soul series, as well as several spin-off titles. He is one of the most popular and recognizable characters in the series.

Mitsurugi is a very humble and honorable warrior. He always wants to fight the strongest opponents and never backs down from a challenge. He is also very protective of his honor and reputation, and will go to great lengths to defend them.

Taki

Taki is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. She first appeared in Soul Edge, and has been a mainstay in the series ever since. She is a Japanese ninja who specializes in ninjutsu, and is often armed with short swords or daggers.

Taki is considered to be one of the best characters in the Soul series, and has been a top-tier character in almost every game she has appeared in. She is especially well-known for her good mixups and versatile combos, as well as her ability to control space extremely well.

Maxi

Maxi is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. He made his debut in the original Soul Edge.

A pirate from Kuwait, Maxi was once a lackey of Cervantes de Leone before eventually striking out on his own. He uses a Chinese Jian as his main weapon, and is known for his quick and agile fighting style. In Soulcalibur, Maxi joins up with Xianghua in order to defeat Nightmare, and the two of them have remained close friends ever since.

Maxi’s main weapons are his Chinese jian, Fugudoku and Kotetsu. He also uses a buckler shield and daggers in some of his attacks.

Cervantes

Cervantes is a Spanish pirate captain who debuted in the original Soul Edge. In his quest for revenge against Nightmare, Cervantes unwittingly became the new host of the evil blade and embarked on a bloody rampage. He was finally destroyed by his own daughter, Ivy. But even death could not stop him, as he was resurrected by the power of Soul Edge and has since returned as a servant of the evil blade.

Kilik

Kilik is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. He made his first appearance in the original Soulcalibur, and has returned for Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur Legends, Soulcalibur IV, and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny. Kilik is one of the main protagonists of the series.

Kilik’s most defining feature is the large red-and-black staff he wields. Named after its owner, the “Kali-Yuga” is one of the two fabled holy weapons forged to combat evil; the other being its polar opposite, the “Soul Edge”. While many have wielded it over the years, Kilik is currently its primary bearer. This staff grants Kilik great power, but it also slowly eats away at his sanity.

The Worst

I’m going to be honest with you, the vast majority of Soul Calibur character select music is bad. Like, really bad. It’s either too over-the-top and bombastic, or it’s just bland and forgettable. There are a few exceptions, though. Here are the best of the best when it comes to Soul Calibur character select music.

Raphael

Raphael: The Worst

There is no denying that Raphael is the worst character in Soulcalibur. He’s slow, his moves are telegraphed, and his hitboxes are terrible. In fact, he’s so bad that he’s often considered to be unviable in competitive play. And while he may not be the best character in the game, he’s still a lot of fun to play as. So if you’re looking for a fun but challenging character to main, Raphael is definitely the worst choice.

Hwang

There is no mistaking the sound of Hwang’s character select music in Soul Calibur. It is possibly the most grating, obnoxious, and just plain bad piece of video game music ever composed. It is so bad, in fact, that it has become an internet meme, with people creating remixes and parodies of the tune.

Rock

The Worst – (Soul Calibur Character Select Music: The Best of the Best) is a compilation of the worst Rock songs ever recorded. It was released on May 9, 2006 by Koch Records.

The album features eighteen tracks of some of the most popular and well-known Rock songs of all time, performed by some of the genre’s most famous artists. Among the songs featured on The Worst are “We Will Rock You” by Queen, “You Shook Me All Night Long” by AC/DC, “Pour Some Sugar on Me” by Def Leppard, “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi, and “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.

Amy

Amy is one of the worst characters in Soul Calibur. She has very few redeeming qualities and is generally not worth choosing.

Cassandra

Why is Cassandra the worst? Well, for starters, her character select music is terrible. It sounds like a bunch of random noise strung together, and it’s just not pleasant to listen to. Furthermore, her fighting style is completely unimaginative and uninteresting. She just seems to spam the same few moves over and over again, and it gets old quickly. Finally, her overall design is just unappealing. She looks like she’s been put together from a bunch of different parts, and it doesn’t work well.
