The 2016 Soul Train Music Awards are set to air on Sunday, November 27 at 8 p.m. EST on BET Networks. The annual awards show, which celebrates African-American music and culture, will feature performances by Alicia Keys, Maxwell, Solange, and more.

Usher

Maxwell

In 2001, he returned with now, his most intimate and introspective work to date. The double platinum now featured the mega-hit single “This Woman’s Work,” which was honored with 2 Grammy nominations. Maxwell then took a hiatus from recording to refocus on himself and his 11-year relationship. Following his much publicized break-up, he penned the majority of blackSUMMERS’night, his first album in 7 years. The album debuted at #1 on Billboard Top 200 chart, cementing Maxwell as one of only eight musical artists who have had three consecutive #1 albums on the chart. He is also the recipient of 12 ASCAP Songwriter Awards, 2 BET Awards, 5 Soul Train Music Awards, 3 NAACP Image Awards and numerous other honors throughout his career.

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys is a 15-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, producer, actress, philanthropist, and activist. Her debut album, Songs in A Minor, was released in 2001 and established her as a soulful R&B icon. The album went on to sell over 12 million copies worldwide and earned five Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Song of the Year for “Fallin’.” Alicia followed up with The Diary of Alicia Keys in 2003, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and spawned the classic hits “You Don’t Know My Name” and “If I Ain’t Got You.” Throughout her decorated career, Alicia has released six #1 albums including As I Am, The Element of Freedom, Girl on Fire, Here, and Unplugged. She has sold over 65 million records worldwide.

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer and musician. He has sold over 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. His musical style encompasses pop, rock, funk, R&B and soul.

Mars began his musical career as a member of the production team The Smeezingtons. He wrote and produced songs for other artists, including “Nothin’ on You” by B.o.B and “Right Round” by Flo Rida. In 2010, he released his debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. The album spawned the hit singles “Grenade”, “Just the Way You Are”, “Treasure” and “Locked Out of Heaven”.

In 2012, Mars returned with his second album Unorthodox Jukebox. The album topped the charts in more than 20 countries worldwide and yielded the hit singles “Locked Out of Heaven”, “When I Was Your Man” and “Treasure”.

Mars has won numerous awards throughout his career, including six Grammy Awards and five Brit Awards. In 2014, he was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world.
