The Sound of Music comes to Little Rock

The Sound of Music comes to Little Rock this weekend, and fans of the classic film are in for a treat. The production, which features a live orchestra, will be presented at the Robinson Center Performance Hall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

This weekend’s performances will mark the first time that The Sound of Music has been staged in Little Rock. The production is being brought to the city by Broadway in Little Rock, a nonprofit organization that works to bring touring Broadway shows to the city.

Fans of the movie will recognize many of the iconic songs from the film, including “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.” The live orchestra will add an extra layer of excitement to the already-impressive production.

The Sound of Music at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is coming to the Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock. The classic musical, set in Austria in the 1930s, tells the story of Maria von Trapp, a novice nun who is sent to work as a governess for Capt. Georg von Trapp’s seven children. Maria falls in love with both the children and the captain, but he is betrothed to another woman and Austria is on the brink of Nazi invasion. The Sound of Music features such classic songs as “Edelweiss,” “My Favorite Things” and, of course, “The Sound of Music.”
