You might not think that Swing Music and Dubstep would go together, but this remix by DJ Gazzo will make you think again!

Introduction

Swing music was once a mainstay in American pop culture, but it has since fallen out of favor with the general public. However, there is a growing movement of EDM (electronic dance music) producers who are taking swing music and giving it a dubstep makeover. This article will explore this new trend and provide some examples of swing-dubstep fusion.

Swing music originated in the early 1920s and was popularized by artists such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Glenn Miller. It is characterized by its uptempo tempo, Syncopated rhythms, and catchy melodies. Dubstep, on the other hand, is a relatively new genre that emerged in the late 1990s/early 2000s. It is characterized by its heavy basslines and often-repetitive rhythms.

So what happens when you mix these two genres together? The results can be quite interesting! Many dubstep producers have taken the catchy melodies of swing and given them a modern day update with heavy basslines and syncopated rhythms. This trend is still in its infancy, but there are already some great examples of swing-dubstep fusion out there.

What is Dubstep?

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the late 1990s. It is generally characterized by sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns with prominent sub-bass frequencies. The style emerged as an offshoot of UK garage, drawing on a lineage of related styles such as 2-step and dub reggae. In the early 2000s, dubstep began to emerge as a distinct genre. By the early 2010s, the genre had become one of the most popular forms of electronic dance music in the world

What is Swing Music?

Swing music is a form of popular music developed in the United States that dominated in the 1930s and 1940s. The name “swing” came from the ‘swing feel’ where the emphasis is on the off–beat or weaker pulse in the music. Swing bands usually featured soloists who would improvise on the melody over the arrangement. The danceable swing style of big bands and bandleaders such as Benny Goodman was the dominant form of American popular music from 1935 to 1946, a period known as the swing era. Swing can be seen as a reaction to earlier jazz styles, and also as a precursor to later styles such as bebop.

The Remix

This remix of popular swing music takes the original songs and gives them a modern twist with dubstep elements. The result is a unique and fresh sound that will get your feet moving.

The Reaction

The debut of the song “Swing” by Grammy-winning dubstep artist Skrillex has been met with mixed reactions. Some love the new sound, calling it “refreshing” and “a new take on an old genre.” Others are not so sure, with one YouTube commenter writing, “This is an abomination.”

So far, the reaction to the song has been mainly positive, with many people lauding Skrillex for his innovative approach to music. However, there are also a number of people who are not so keen on the idea of dubstep being mixed with swing music. Only time will tell if this new hybrid genre will catch on or if it will fizzle out like so many other passing trends.

Conclusion

While many people may not be fans of dubstep, I think it’s fair to say that this remix is pretty creative and definitely original. It’s not often that you hear two genres of music blended together so well. Kudos to the artist for thinking outside the box and creating something truly unique.
