It’s been another excellent year for country music, with a long list of great songs and albums coming out in 2016. So what were the best country music releases of the year? Here’s a look at some of the top country music of 2016, including both songs and albums.

Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton is an American country music singer and television personality. In 2001, he made his debut with the single “Austin”. The lead-off single from his self-titled debut album, “Austin” spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard Country Chart. The now Platinum-certified album also produced two more Top 20 hits.

Florida Georgia Line

Florida Georgia Line is an American country music duo consisting of vocalists Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley. Their 2012 debut single, “Cruise”, broke two major sales records: it was downloaded over seven million times, making it the first ever country song to receive the Diamond certification, and it became the best-selling digital country song of all time, with 24 weeks at number one. The song is considered the standout track on their first album for Republic Nashville, titled Here’s to the Good Times. This album produced six more chart-topping songs: “Round Here”, “Stay”, “Get Your Shine On”, “Here’s to the Good Times”, “Party People” and Anything Goes.

Keith Urban

Keith Urban is a New Zealand-born country music singer, songwriter and guitarist. Since his American debut in 1999, he has recorded ten studio albums and has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2012. He is best known for his singles “But for the Grace of God”, “Somebody Like You”, “You’ll Think of Me”, “Days Go By”, “Sweet Thing” and “Blue Ain’t Your Color”.

Dierks Bentley

Dierks Bentley is an American country music singer and songwriter who has been active since 2000. In that time, he has released eight studio albums and 32 singles. His self-titled debut album, Dierks Bentley, was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and produced his first Number One hit, “What Was I Thinkin'”. His fourth album, Feel That Fire was released in 2009 and included the number one singles “Sideways”, “Life on the Open Road” and “Feel That Fire”. Bentley’s sixth album, Up on the Ridge, was released on June 8, 2010.

Brett Eldredge

If you love heartland country music, then you’re probably a big fan of Brett Eldredge. The Illinois native has been pumping out country hits since 2013, and 2016 was no exception. Here are three of his best songs from the past year.

1. “Wanna Be That Song”
This sentimental ballad is all about the moments in life that stay with you forever. Eldredge co-wrote the song with Scooter Carusoe, and it quickly became a fan favorite.

2. “Lose My Mind”
Lose My Mind is another collaboration, this time with Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan. It’s a fun, uptempo track that’s perfect for a night out with friends.

3. “Somethin’ I’m Good At”
This feel-good song is all about enjoying the simple things in life. It was co-written by Eldredge, Chase Rice and Ashley Gorley, and it definitely has a summertime vibe.

Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. After working as a lawyer for six years, he started pursueing music full time. In 2013, he released his debut album “Traveller” which won several Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance. His follow-up album “From A Room: Volume 1” was released in 2017 and won the Grammy Award for Best Country Album. Stapleton has released three studio albums and is currently touring the United States.

Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” is one of the most catchy, clever, and fun songs of the year. It’s a perfectly crafted summer anthem, and it dominated radio for months. That’s not an easy feat for any song, let alone a country song. But “Body Like a Back Road” isn’t just a great country song, it’s one of the best songs of the year, period.

Jason Aldean

Jason Aldean is an American country music singer. He has released eight studio albums and has been signed to Broken Bow Records since 2005. His 2010 album, My Kinda Party, is certified quadruple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Seven more of his singles have reached the top 10. He has won six Country Music Association Awards, including the 2011 Grammy for Best Country Album for My Kinda Party. In 2009, he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
