The best jazz musicians of 2015 come from all over the world and represent a wide range of styles and genres. These are the artists who are keeping jazz alive and expanding its boundaries.

-Saxophonist Kamasi Washington released his debut album, The Epic, in 2015. The three-hour long journey through jazz, hip-hop, and classical music was one of the most talked-about albums of the year.

-Pianist Robert Glasper experimentally blended jazz with R&B on his album Covered. His reinterpretations of songs by Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and David Bowie showcased his versatility as a musician and garnered critical acclaim.

-Drummer Mark Guiliana released his fourth solo album, Beat Music!, in 2015. The record features an all-star cast of musicians including Lionel Loueke, Matt Garstka, and Jason Lindner. Guiliana’s dynamic drumming propels the album forward and makes it one of the best jazz releases of the year.

-The Floating Pointers is a trio made up of saxophonist Matt Mullan, drummer Malcolm Bruce, and bassist/pianist Josh Rawlinson. Their self-titled debut album is a beautifully restrained work that showcases their deep understanding of jazz tradition.
