Verse 1

Do you mind if I put my glove on?
‘Cause my hands are cold
I never liked the winter time
But now I’m not so sure
I don’t mind the snowfalling
Or the way that it feels
But I do mind the way that it’s always dark outside

Chorus

Do not, do not, do not, do not (x4)
Oh no, no no! (x2)

Bruno Mars, you up with this today? (Huh?)
We gonna put you on the map, we up in this today! (Okay!)
I said Uptown Funk you up with this today! (Come on!)
Uptown Funk you up with this today! (Ohhh!)
Uptown Funk you up with this today!

Verse 2

Do not believe me just watch (x4)

Uh
I said uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up
(repeat 2x)
I said uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up
(repeat 2x)
I said uptown funk you up, uptown funk you up

Bridge

The bridge is where the song changes gears, giving the listener a break from the main melody. It’s a good idea to make your bridge stand out from the rest of the song, both in terms of melody and harmony. For this reason, many songwriters choose to use a different chord progression in the bridge than in the verse or chorus.

In “Uptown Funk,” the bridge begins with a descending bass line that outlines a ii-V-I progression in the key of D minor. This progression is then repeated with different melodic embellishments. The final two measures of the bridge are based on a I-vi-ii-V progression, which brings the listener back to the tonic (D) for the final chorus.
