In 2016, he released his third studio album 24K Magic with the lead single of the same title hitting number five on the Hot 100 as well as topping charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The album won Album of the Year at both 2017 Grammy Awards. Its single “That’s What I Like” also won Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song at those ceremonies. In between these two albums he also co-wrote, co-produced and sang vocals on recordings for other artists including Adele’s “All I Ask”, Cee Lo Green’s “Language”, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry”, Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk”, Beyonce’s Formation among others.

Columbia Records released the song as a single on 10 November 2014. Jeff Bhasker assisted the artists in co-writing and co-producing the track, with additional writing from Phillip Lawrence. The Lyrics
“Uptown Funk” is a song by British record producer Mark Ronson from his fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015), featuring American singer and songwriter Bruno Mars. On the single, Ronson incorporates musical elements of Minneapolis sound, including a funky instrumentals, synth-funk, and new jack swing. “Uptown Funk” spent 14 consecutive weeks atop the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the second-longest running No. 1 single of all time.
The original demo version of “Uptown Funk” was produced by Jeff Bhasker and uploaded to Mars’ YouTube channel on November 8, 2014. In an interview with Rolling Stone in February 2015, Ronson said that he had been working on the song with Mars for two years prior to its release but had struggled to find a way to showcase his talents within the context of a blended style that would make sense commercially. The song’s lyrics were written by Nicholas Williams (a.k.a. nicotine), who also has co-writing credits on Mars’ 2012 hit “Locked Out of Heaven”, as well as hits for Justin Timberlake (“Suit & Tie”), CeeLo Green (“Crazy”), Alicia Keys (“Girl on Fire”), and Florence + The Machine (“Spectrum”). The song’s title comes from the name of the street in Minneapolis where Prince lived; Mars grew up near there and was influenced by Prince’s music.
After hearing a demo version of “Uptown Funk”, Record executive Clive Davis suggested that Ronson produce the track with Mars rather than release it as part of his own album. Ronson took this advice and invited Bhasker to contribute additional production; both producers ended up receiving credit for their work on “Uptown Funk”. Recording sessions took place at Germano Studios in New York City in June 2014 with additional recording at Atlantic Studios in Brooklyn during July; both studios are owned by Atlantic Records, which released “Uptown Funk” as a single on 10 November 2014. The song was mixed by Serban Ghenea at MixStar Studios in Virginia Beach and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York City by Tom Coyne; its final length is four minutes and thirty-one seconds long.
