“Best Overall Video” goes to Maxwell for his visual for “Lake By the Ocean.” The sensual, black and white medley depicted love in its simplest and most natural form.

Best Male Video

The best male video of 2013 went to Justin Timberlake for his song “Mirrors.” The video features Timberlake dancing in front of a mirror, and as he moves, the reflection in the mirror moves with him. The video is a beautiful and creative way to showcase Timberlake’s talent as a dancer and singer.

The year is almost over and it’s time to reflect on the best music of the year. We’ve rounded up our favorite music videos of 2013, featuring everything from hip-hop to pop to soul. And we’re doing it all in one place, so you can relive the best moments of the year over and over again.

This year’s best female video goes to Beyoncé for her song “Pretty Hurts.” The powerful ballad has an important message, and Beyoncé delivers it with her usual style and grace. The video is visually stunning, and Beyoncé looks gorgeous as she sings about overcoming adversity.

Best Group Video

VH1‘s annual Soul Train Awards were held this past Sunday (Nov. 3) in Las Vegas and some of the best and brightest in R&B and Soul music were in attendance. But the party doesn’t stop there because now it’s time to announce VH1 Soul’s Best Music Videos of 2013!

This was a banner year for R&B music videos with outstanding visuals from veteran artists like Maxwell, Miguel, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Marsha Ambrosius, Ledisi, Fantasia, Toni Braxton, Tamar Braxton, Janelle Monae and newcomers like child prodigy Elle Varner, UK Songstress Estelle and fast-rising Gospel star Tasha Cobbs.

We saw concepts that ranged from old-school block parties (Miguel’s “How Many Drinks?” featuring Kendrick Lamar), to nostalgia-inducing 90s throwbacks (Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” featuring T.I. & Pharrell) to biopics (Alicia Keys’ “Fire We Make” featuring Maxwell). We also witnessed love stories (Elle Varner’s “Refill”), odes to mothers (Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War”) and even an adorable dance party courtesy of Janelle Monae (featuring Erykah Badu on the remix to “Q.U.E.E.N.”).

After much deliberation, we have compiled our list of the 10 Best Music Videos of 2013. Take a look below and let us know if you agree with our choices!

Best Collaboration Video

In the music video for “Best I Ever Had,” soul singer Tank and R&B songstress Tiara Thomas pay tribute to love and relationships that didn’t quite work out. The black-and-white video features the two artists looking back on past loves, with Thomas even smashing a framed picture of an ex at the end.

Best New Artist Video

Cody Chesnutt – “Look Good in Leather”

The crowd goes wild as Cody Chesnutt walks onstage in a black leather suit, looking every bit the part of a ’60s soul man. The camera pans the audience, showing a mix of people of all ages and backgrounds united in their love of Chesnutt’s music. The performance is electric, and the video ends with a shot of Chesnutt smiling and waving to the cheering crowd.
