We Will Rock You: The Musical is a musical based on the songs of British rock band Queen with a book by Ben Elton. The musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks and acts the same. The musical includes such Queen hits as “We Are the Champions,” “Somebody to Love,” “Killer Queen,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” and “ spread your wings.

The Plot

The musical is based on the album by British rock band Queen with a book by Ben Elton. The story takes place in a future world where globalization is complete and “rock” music is unknown. A group of youngsters, inspired by the legends of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, set out to revive the legend of rock music.

The Music

While the show has been criticized for its contrived plot and weak dialogue, it is the music that has kept audiences coming back for more. The score is comprised of 24 Queen songs, including “We Are the Champions”, “Somebody to Love”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and of course, “We Will Rock You”.

The Antagonist: Killer Queen – The evil ruler of the iPlanet. She is a control freak who wants everyone to conform and be like her. She will stop at nothing to achieve her goal of world domination.

The sidekicks: Scaramouche – A feisty female rebel who is unafraid to stand up to the Killer Queen. She is Galileo’s love interest and helps him find his true calling.
Buddy Holly – A guitar-playing hologram who helps Galileo develop his musical skills. He also has a romantic interest in Killer Queen, much to Scaramouche’s dismay.

The Reception

The musical we will rock you was received very well in London. The critics loved it and the audience was on their feet every night.

The Costumes
