What Now? This Is What I Call Music: Is “Upton Funk” the next “Gangnam Style?”

The world may never know, but what we do know is that “Upton Funk” is the latest viral hit from YouTube sensation Bruno Mars. The song has already racked up over 100 million views, and it’s only been out for a few weeks.

So, what makes “Upton Funk” so special? Is it the catchy beat? The

The Problem With “Upton Funk”

“Upton Funk” is a song by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars. It was released on November 10, 2014, as the lead single from Ronson’s fourth studio album, Uptown Special. The song topped the charts in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand. However, the song has come under fire for its repetitive nature and lyrical content.

The Lyrics

The lyrics of “Upton Funk” are often criticized for being pornographic and vulgar. The song contains numerous references to sexual activities, including anal sex, oral sex, and group sex. The song also includes numerous references to drug use, including marijuana and cocaine. In addition, the song includes several profane words and phrases, including the “N-word” and the “F-word.” As a result of the song’s explicit content, many radio stations have refused to play the song, and many retailers have refused to sell the song.

The Music

Now, I want to talk about the music in “Upton Funk.” There are a few things that I think are problematic with it. The first is the use of the word “funk.”

The Solution

I am sure that many of you, like me, have been struggling to find good music to listen to lately. The radio is full of the same songs, and it seems like the only new music is either too experimental or too mainstream for my taste. However, I have recently discovered a song that I think is the perfect solution to our dilemma.

Change the Lyrics

We found a solution (What now?)
To the problem (What now?)
That was us (What now?)
And it’s all thanks to Roger (What now?)

Up in the club (Uptown Funk you up)
We just tore it up (Uptown Funk you up)
And we’re dancing on the floor (Uptown Funk you up)
Till we die oh-oh-oh oh oh oh oh-oh-oh (Uptown Funk you up)

Change the Music

We need to change the music. I’m not saying get rid of all of it, but we need to reduce the amount we’re listening to and be more critical about the messages it’s sending. We need to listen to music that makes us think, that speaks to our hearts and challenges us to be better people. We need to support the artists who are creating this kind of music, and stop giving our money to those who are contributing to the problem.

It’s time for a change. It’s time for something new. It’s time for Upton Funk.
