Since its inception in 2000,[2] the Latin Grammy Awards have been held every year except for 2002 and 2003, when organizer Univision Communications postponed them due to protests against the Iraq War[3] and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina respectively.[4][5]

The show was first broadcast on CBS in 2001 before moving to Univision the following year.[6][7] Univision has televised the show every year since 2002. The show has also been aired on NBC in 2006,[8] and on Telemundo in 2010.
