Young attended college at University of Arizona on a baseball scholarship. He played professional baseball for a short time before returning to college to finish his degree in business. After graduation, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue a career in music.

The album’s lead single, “In Case You Didn’t Know,” became his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Young has released two additional studio albums, Ticket to L.A.
