Last week, we brought you a list of 10 great metal albums you can find for free on YouTube. This week, we’re doing things a little differently and bringing you the best of the best of free heavy metal music on YouTube. If you’re looking for some new metal to check out, this is the list for you.

Metallica

Metallica is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield, and has been based in San Francisco for most of its career. The group’s fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship placed them as one of the founding “big four” bands of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. Metallica’s current lineup includes founding members Hetfield and Ulrich, longtime lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo. Guitarist Dave Mustaine ( who went on to form Megadeth) and bassists Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton ( who died on tour in 1986), and Jason Newsted are former members of the band.

Metallica has released ten studio albums, four live albums, a cover album ( Garage Inc.), five extended plays (EPs), 37 singles,. Metallica has won nine Grammy Awards from 23 nominations,. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 Metallica ranks as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time,. having sold over 125 million records worldwide as of 2018. Metallica has also been included in several publications’ lists of the greatest artists of all time. As of December 2020,, they are the world’s fifth-highest-selling music artists.. In 1991,. they were named by MTV as “the greatest metal band of all time”, In 2012,. they were ranked number one on VH1’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists Of All Time”. In 2019,, they were inducted into the Musical Instrument Museum’s “Who Was Who” in Music exhibit in Scottsdale’.

Slayer

Slayer is an American thrash metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman. They rose to fame with their 1986 release Reign in Blood, and are credited as one of the “big four” thrash metal bands, along with Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax. Slayer’s musical style involves fast tremolo picking, double bass drumming, riffs in irregular scales, and pitch harmonics. Hanneman and King used a windswept black hole image for the cover of their 1996 albumUndisputed Attitude. Since its debut album in 1983, the band has released fifteen studio albums. The band has received five Grammy nominations..

Megadeth

Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, shortly after Mustaine’s dismissal from Metallica. A pioneer of the American thrash metal scene, the band is credited as one of the genre’s “big four” with Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer, having sold over 50 million records worldwide. Megadeth headlined the 2015 edition of Gigantour along with Lamb of God, Motörhead, and VIMIC. They were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2017 for the song “Symphony of Destruction”.

Avenged Sevenfold

Avenged Sevenfold is an American heavy metal band formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California. The band’s members are M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, Johnny Christ, and Brooks Wackerman.

The band released their debut album Sounding the Seventh Trumpet in 2001, which contained three singles that peaked at number 11 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart: “Warmness on the Soul”, “Unholy Confessions”, and “Chapter Four”. The album was well-received by fans and critics alike and was certified platinum by the RIAA in the United States. Avenged Sevenfold’s second album Waking the Fallen was released in 2003. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold by the RIAA in the United States. Three of its singles reached number one on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart: “Seize the Day”, “Critical Acclaim”, and “Betrayed”.

The band’s third album City of Evil was released in 2005. The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA in the United States. Its single, “Bat Country” peaked at number eight on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Avenged Sevenfold’s fourth album Nightmare was released in 2010. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and was certified gold by the RIAA in the United States within its first week of release. Its first single, “Nightmare” peaked at number six on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The band’s fifth studio album Hail to the King was released on August 27, 2013 through Warner Bros Records as a follow-up to their live/compilation record Live In The LBC & Diamonds In The Rough, which came out two years prior to Hail To The King. It topped both Hard Rock Albums as well as Top Rock Albums charts making it Avenged Sevenfold’s second Number 1 record on both Billboards rock charts within 3 years

Trivium

Trivium is a heavy metal band from Orlando, Florida, United States, formed in 1999. The band is composed of Matt Heafy (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Corey Beaulieu (lead guitar, backing vocals), Paolo Gregoletto (bass guitar) and Matt Nishita (drums). Heafy and Beaulieu are the only members of the group to appear on all of the band’s studio albums; Gregoletto and Nishita have each been a part of Trivium since 2004. The band has released eight studio albums and over thirty singles. Their eighth album, The Sin and the Sentence, was released on October 20, 2017. The band has sold over one million albums worldwide.

Five Finger Death Punch

One of the most successful heavy metal bands of the past decade, Five Finger Death Punch has cemented their place in music history. Formed in 2005, the band has released seven studio albums, all of which have been met with critical and commercial success. They are currently working on their eighth album, which is set to be released in 2020.

Lamb of God

Lamb of God is an American groove metal band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1994 (as Burn the Priest), the group consists of vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler. The band is considered a significant member of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement.Since their formation, Lamb of God has released eight studio albums, one live album, one compilation album, and three DVDs. The band’s eighth studio album, VIII: Sturm und Drang, was released on July 24, 2015.They have also been nominated for three Grammy Awards (winning one for their song “Redneck”).

Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbanding of Overcast and Aftershock. Killswitch Engage’s members include vocalist Jesse Leach, bassist Mike D’Antonio, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz, and drummer Justin Foley. The band has released seven studio albums and two live performance albums. Their eighth studio album, Atonement, was released on August 16, 2019.

Mastodon

Mastodon is an American heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1999. The group is composed of bassist Troy Sanders, guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor. Mastodon has released seven studio albums, as well as a number of other releases. The band’s 2002 debut album, Remission, garnered significant critical acclaim for its unique sound. Mastodon’s second full-length release, Leviathan (2004), was a concept album based on the novel Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. Three magazines awarded the record Album of the Year in 2004: Revolver, Kerrang! and Terrorizer.

Mastodon’s 2004 third album, Blood Mountain, peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). All four of Mastodon’s studio albums have received critical acclaim by music critics and are considered to be a major influence in the development of modern progressive metal. The band’s seventh studio album Emperor of Sand (2017) was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.
