2016 was a great year for house music. A lot of new sounds and styles emerged, and established artists continued to push the boundaries of the genre. In this video, we count down our top 10 favourite house tracks of the year.

The Chainsmokers are an American DJ and production duo consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall.They started out by releasing remixes of songs by indie artists. The Chainsmokers rose to fame with their 2014 song “#Selfie”, which became a top twenty single in several countries. Their debut EP, Bouquet, was released in October 2015 and featured the single “Roses”, which reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, they won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for “Don’t Let Me Down”.

Alan Walker – Faded

Alan Walker – Faded is a song that was released in 2016. The song is a mix of different house genres and features a piano melody. The song was met with critical acclaim and has been included in many “best of” lists for 2016.

Calvin Harris & Disciples – How Deep Is Your Love

“How Deep Is Your Love” is a song by Scottish DJ and record producer Calvin Harris, featuring English vocals from British duo Disciples. It was released on 17 July 2015 as the second single from Harris’s fourth studio album, Motion (2014). The song peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and became Harris’s seventh consecutive top ten single in the United Kingdom.

After listening to and researching a variety of house music from 2016, we can say with confidence that the best house music of the year came from the following five artists:

4. Jamie xx
5. Oliver Heldens

These artists pushed the boundaries of what house music could be in 2016, and their efforts have paid off – each one of them had at least one track that could be considered the best house track of the year. In a genre that is always evolving, it is reassuring to see that there are still artists who are able to innovate and produce fresh, exciting music.
