The group originally consisted of the brothers Cecil Statler and Harold Reid (both lead vocals, guitar, and bass), their cousin Lew DeWitt (guitar and tenor vocals), and Don Reid (guitar and baritone vocals). All five recorded for Columbia Records except for a short stint with Mercury Records during 1967-68; they also recorded several albums for Starday/King Records during this period.

Following Harold’s retirement for health reasons in 1991, Joe McDorman took over as lead singer until Don retired from performing in 1999; then Michael English took over as lead singer until he was replaced by Jimmy Fortune in 2002 who continues as the lead singer today.”
