The nominees for the 2018 Soul Train Music Awards have been announced! See who’s up for awards and who took home the prize.

Introduction

TheSoul Train Music Awardsis an annual award show which honors the best in Black music and entertainment. It is produced by the makers of Soul Train, the long-running television program that featured performances by some of the biggest names in Black music.

This year’s awards show will be held on Sunday, November 11, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The event will be hosted byRapper and actor Jamie Foxx, and will feature performances byTory Lanez, H.E.R., Ella Mai, Anderson .Paak, Miguel, Daniel Caesar, Silk Sonic ( Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak), Ro James, Sevyn Streeter, and many more.

Best New Artist

The Soul Train Music Awards are back for another year, and the nominees have just been announced! This year’s show will feature performances by some of the biggest names in R&B and soul music, as well as newcomers to the scene. And, of course, we’ll find out who takes home the coveted trophies in each of the award categories.

The Best New Artist award is always one of the most closely watched categories at the Soul Train Awards, and this year’s crop of nominees is sure to disappoint. The nominees for Best New Artist are:

Best R&B Album

The Best R&B Album category was established in 1995. It was originally titled Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, but was later shortened to its current title in 2000. In 2005, the category was divided into two separate categories: Best Traditional R&B Vocal Album and Best Contemporary R&B Album. However, the two categories were merged back into one in 2011.

The winner of this category is Kendrick Lamar and SZA for “All the Stars.”

Best Dance Performance

The 2018 Soul Train Music Awards were held on Sunday, November 11, in Las Vegas. The show was hosted by Erykah Badu and featured performances by H.E.R., Lil’ Kim, Snoop Dogg, Miguel, and many more.

The Ashford & Simpson Songwriters Award is an award given by the Soul Train Music Awards to honor Ashford & Simpson, who were instrumental in the rise of soul and R&B music. The award is given to a songwriting duo or team who have written and performed a notable body of work in the field of soul or R&B.

The Legend Award

The Legend Award is given to an artist who has made significant contributions to the music industry. This award is not given out every year, but rather when an artist is deemed worthy by the Soul Train Music Awards panel.
