Awards

The Latin American Music Awards (LatinAMAs) is an annual American music award that honors the most popular artists in Latin music. It was first awarded in 2015 and is broadcast live on the television network Telemundo. The show is produced by Dick Clark Productions.

The nominees are based on the results of two surveys. One, conducted by Billboard magazine and its research partners, consisted of sales data, radio airplay, streaming activity, social media metrics and video data. The other was a fan-voted poll through the Latin American Music Awards website.

The Award for Artist of the Year went to Maluma. Other winners included:

-Banda MS for Group/Duo of the Year
-Bad Bunny for Male Artist of the Year
-Ozuna for New Artist of the Year
-Rosalia for Female Artist of the Year
-Sech for Song of the Year (“Relacion”)
-Anuel AA & Karol G for Collaboration of the Year (“Secreto”)

Music

Maluma is a Colombian singer, songwriter and actor. He debuted professionally in 2012 with the release of his first album, “Magia.” In 2016, he released his second album, “Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy,” which won him a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Fusion/Performance. In 2017, he released his third album, “F.A.M.E.,” which includes the singles “Felices los 4” and “Corazon.” In 2018, he released his fourth album, “11:11,” which includes the singles “No Se Me Quita” (featuring Ricky Martin) and “HP.”

Life

From his humble beginnings as a barber’s son in Medellín, Colombia, to his current status as one of the world’s biggest Latin pop stars, Maluma has come a long way.

The 26-year-old singer, whose full name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias, has been nominated for four Latin American Music Awards this year, including Artist of the Year and Male Artist of the Year.

If he wins any of those awards, it will be a well-deserved recognition of his talent and hard work. But even if he doesn’t come away with any trophies on Thursday night (Oct. 15), Maluma can still consider himself a winner: He’s one of the most successful young Latin stars in the world, and he’s just getting started.
