Type O Negative
Type O Negative was an American gothic metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1989, by Peter Steele (lead vocals, bass), Kenny Hickey (guitar, backing vocals), and Josh Silver (keyboards, backing vocals). The band went through several lineup changes over the years, with Steele being the only constant member. They are best known for their 1996 album October Rust.
Type O Negative’s music was described as “a cross between Black Sabbath and the Velvet Underground”. Their sound included elements of doom metal, gothic rock, and darkwave music. Their lyrics often centered on themes of romance, death, and self-depreciation. The band was founded by Pete Steele in 1989 after the dissolution of his previous band Carnivore.

Bauhaus
Bauhaus was a gothic rock band that formed in Northampton, England in 1978. The band consisted of Peter Murphy (vocals, guitar), Daniel Ash (guitar), David J (bass) and Kevin Haskins (drums). The band was originally named after the German art school of the same name.
The band’s music is often considered to be a forerunner of gothic rock. Their debut album, In the Flat Field, was released in 1980 and reached number four on the UK Indie charts. The single “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” became an underground hit and is often cited as being the first gothic rock record. The band’s subsequent albums, Mask (1981) and The Sky’s Gone Out (1982), both reached the UK Top 20.
In 1983, the band split up but reunited in 1998 for a reunion tour. They released a new album, Go Away White, in 2008. The bandsplit up again in 2013 but reunited once more in 2019 for a 40th anniversary tour.
Bauhaus are considered to be one of the most influential gothic rock bands of all time and have been credited with helping to pioneer the gothic rock genre.
The Cure
The Cure is a goth rock band which formed in 1976 in Crawley, England. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with frontman, vocalist and guitarist Robert Smith being the only constant member. The Cure first hit the UK charts in 1979 with their second single, “Boys Don’t Cry”.
