New Releases

Coming soon to a heavy metal fan near you, three new music DVDs are set to be released in the next few months. The first, entitled “Rage Across the World: Live in Japan,” captures German power metal band Rage’s triumphant return to the Land of the Rising Sun. The second DVD, “Dream Theater: Live at Luna Park,” documents the American progressive metal outfit’s record-breaking South American tour. Finally, ” Metallica: Through the Never,” features the famed American heavy metal band in their first ever IMAX concert film.

Metallica- Hardwired…To Self-Destruct

Metallica returns with their first album in eight years! Hardwired…To Self-Destruct is a two-disc album featuring 12 new tracks. The band once again teamed with producer Greg Fidelman, who also worked on their previous album Death Magnetic. This is the band’s first album since 2008’s Death Magnetic.

Megadeth- Dystopia

Megadeth’s “Dystopia” is one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2016. This highly acclaimed album is finally being released on DVD, and it is sure to please fans of the band. “Dystopia” is a must-have for any fan of Megadeth, and it is sure to be a hit with metal fans worldwide.

Anthrax- For All Kings

Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal movement from the 1980s and isclassified as one of the “Big Four” thrash metal bands with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer; they have sold over 10 million records worldwide. Anthrax’s first LP Not for the Weak hearted was released in July 1981 on Megaforce Records. The album was titled Fever in Japan when released there by Nippon Phonogram in February 1984. Main songwriter Danny Lilker soon left the band due to creative differences with Ian.

Thrash Metal

Thrash metal is a genre of heavy metal music characterized by its fast tempo and aggressive music. This genre often uses guitars with fast-paced riffs and drums with high attack rates. The lyrics often deal with topics such as violence, rebellion, and death. Some of the most well-known thrash metal bands include Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Exodus.

Death Metal

Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal that typically employs heavily distorted guitars, tremolo picking, deep growling vocals, blast beat drumming, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes. Death metal developed in the 1980s. These themes were largely pioneered by the American band Death, as well as by the Brazilian/American band Possessed. Many other bands have been strongly influenced by these two pioneering bands, including Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel.

An early important figure in the development of death metal was Chuck Schuldiner of the band Death. Along with Possessed, Death created a blueprint for death metal that would be highly influential for years to come. Schuldiner’s vision involved heavily distorted guitars played with palm-muted picking technique and occasional use of guitar harmony and tapping, blast beat drumming, growling vocals delivered in a low register, and complex song structures featuring abrupt tempo changes and frequent time signature changes.

Deathmetal is also characterized by its lyrical content which is often inspired by horror movies and science fiction movies as well as by occultism and Satanism. Lyrics usually involve graphic descriptions of violence, Gore, suffering and death.

Heavy Metal

Heavy metal is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and the United States. With roots in blues rock and psychedelic rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. The genre’s lyrics and performance styles are sometimes associated with aggression and machismo.

In 1968, three new British groups began to achieve commercial success with a heavier sound: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. In the same year, American band Blue Cheer released their début album Vincebus Eruptum, which featured Marshall amplifier-driven feedback guitars and screamed vocals; this album has been cited as an important proto-metal release. In early 1970eriples like Iron Butterfly joined Blue Cheer in pioneering heavy metal music. By 1970 Black Sabbath had achieved commercial success with Paranoid selling more than four million copies worldwide.[46] In the same year Deep Purple had two hits with their single “Black Night” and album Fireball which peaked at No. 1 and No. 2 in America respectively.[47][48] Also during 1970 UFO released their eponymous début featuring Norman Smith as producer who would go on to produce Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (1973).[49][50]

In Germany Scorpions released Lonesome Crow (1972) featuring Ulrich Roth on guitar who would later form Electric Sun. Another German band Angel Dust released Fatal Portrait (1986) featuring Dirk Bach on vocals who would later form Kreyson. Metallica

Metallica is an American heavy metal band. The band was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, California by drummer Lars Ulrich and vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield, and has been based in San Francisco, California for most of its career. In 2000, Metallica was among a number of artists who filed a lawsuit against Napster for sharing the band’s copyrighted material without permission. A settlement was reached, and Napster became a pay-to-use service in 2003. Despite opposition from their record label Warner Bros., Metallicareleased their ninth studio album through their own independent label Blackened Recordings; Hardwired… to Self-Destruct debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart after an eight-year hiatus from studio recordings following Death Magnetic (2008).

The band is currently promoting Hardwired… to Self-Destruct has been their biggest tour yet which kicked off on October 7th 2016 in Duluth Georgia at Infinite Energy Arena going all throughout North America till mid December where they’ll be finishing up in Albuquerque New Mexico at Tingley Coliseum then heading over to Europe starting mid February till early May which is when they’ll be making their way back over to North America starting off Mid May in Baltimore Maryland at M&T Bank Stadium then going all throughout North America till early August when they’ll be finishing up in Quebec City Quebec at Videotron Centre then heading back over to Europe where they have scheduled shows all throughout Europe till early November when they’ll be making there way back over to North America starting off Mid November where they will have scheduled shows all throughout North America till Mid December when they’ll be finishing up there 2017 World Tour right where they started it off 8 years ago in Mexico City Mexico playing 2 SOLD OUT Back 2 Back nights at Foro Sol November 18th & 19th

Megadeth

Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, shortly after Mustaine’s expulsion from Metallica. Along with Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer, Megadeth is one of the “big four” thrash metal bands. Their music features complex arrangements and fast guitar solos, and lyrical themes of death, war, politics, and religion.

The band has released fifteen studio albums, three live albums, five compilation albums, forty-five singles, ten video albums, and thirty-eight music videos. They have earned two Grammy Awards out of seven nominations. Megadeth won Best Metal Performance for the song “À Tout le Monde” at the 1996 Grammy Awards. The band’s mascot Vic Rattlehead appears on almost all of their album covers. The group has sold over 38 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling heavy metal bands of all time.

Anthrax

Anthrax is an American heavy metal band from New York City, formed in 1981 by guitarist Scott Ian and bassist Dan Lilker. The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is one of the “Big Four” thrash metal bands with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer; Anthrax is the only one of the four from the East Coast. As of 2016, the band has released eleven studio albums, a number of singles and an EP with American hip hop group Public Enemy. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Anthrax sold 2.5 million records in the United States from 1991 to 2004, with worldwide sales of 10 million during that same time period.
