Christopher Alvin Stapleton (born April 15, 1978) is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky, until moving to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2001 to pursue a career in music writing songs for other artists. The song “Come Back home” which he co-wrote with Sheryl Crow for her album C’Mon C’Mon won the Country Music Association’s award for Song of the Year in 2003. In 2005, Stapleton signed a publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music after being dropped from Monument Records. In 2013 he formed the blues rock group The Brothers os Osiris with his wife Morgane Stapleton and released three albums with them before embarking on a solo career.
Stapleton’s debut solo album Traveller was released on May 5, 2015 through Mercury Records Nashville to critical acclaim. The album won Album of the Year at the 49th Annual Country Music Association Awards, making him the first artist to win the award who was not also nominated for Entertainer of the Year since Brad Paisley in 2010. Traveller also won Best Country Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. His second album From A Room: Volume 1 was released on May 5, 2017 and won Best Country Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
