The Canadian Folk Music Awards are back for 2020! Here are some of the best albums nominated this year.
Introducing the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2020
The Canadian Folk Music Awards are an annual celebration of the best and brightest in Canadian folk music. This year’s Awards will be taking place on November 15th, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario. As always, the Awards will showcase a wide range of talent from across the country, with a special focus on the artists and albums that have made the biggest impact over the past year.
This year’s nominees include some of Canada’s most celebrated folk musicians, such as singer-songwriter Gord Downie, roots rockers Whitehorse, and alt-country outfit The Sadies. Also up for awards are several up-and-coming artists who are quickly making a name for themselves on the Canadian folk scene, such as Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq and Métis fiddler April Verch.

The Best of the Best: Canadian Folk Music Awards 2020
The Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) are an annual awards presentation recognizing the achievements of folk, roots and world music artists in Canada. Established in 2005, the CFMA are voted on by a jury of more than 100 music professionals from across the country.
The CFMA nominees for 2020 were announced on September 22, 2020. The winners will be announced at a gala event on November 14, 2020, which will be streamed online.

The year 2020 was a trying one for artists and music lovers alike. But despite the challenges, some amazing new music was released. Here are the best new artists of the year, as chosen by the Canadian Folk Music Awards:
Bellows & Blacksmith – “A stunning debut album from a young duo with an old soul. Their playing is impeccable and their songs are both beautiful and hard-hitting.”
The Dead South – “A rollicking good time from start to finish, with catchy hooks, brilliant musicianship, and just the right amount of edge.”
Kim Beggs – “Her voice is a thing of beauty, her songwriting is smart and affecting, and her arrangements are perfect. Kim Beggs is a true master of her craft.”
The Best Collaborations of the Year: Canadian Folk Music Awards 2020
The Canadian Folk Music Awards has announced its list of nominees for the best collaborations of the year. The award goes to a duo or group whose work best exemplifies the art of collaboration in Canadian folk music.
The nominees are:
