It’s that time of year again! Time to break out the eggnog and get into the holiday spirit with the best gospel Christmas music of 2015.

Introduction

The word “gospel” means “good news,” and that’s exactly what Christmas is all about. The birth of Jesus Christ was the best news anyone could ever receive! For Christians, Christmas is a time to celebrate the good news of Jesus’ birth and to rejoice in His hope and love.

What better way to celebrate Christmas than with gospel music? Gospel music is full of joy, hope, and love, and it’s the perfect way to worship our Savior this holiday season.

There are so many great gospel Christmas albums available this year, but we’ve narrowed it down to our top 10 favorites. These albums are sure to get you into the Christmas spirit!

Traditional Gospel

There are many different types of gospel music, but one of the most popular is traditional gospel. This type of gospel music usually has a strong message that is easy to understand and is usually very upbeat. Traditional gospel music is a great way to get into the Christmas spirit and it is also a great way to learn about the true meaning of Christmas.

“O Holy Night” – Mariah Carey

Carey’s “O Holy Night” is a masterclass in the art of subtlety, with the pop singer employing her trademark vocal trills and vibrato in service of the holiday classic. The result is a moving performance that recalls the best of gospel music, while still maintaining the uplifting feeling of Christmas.

“Away in a Manger” – Celine Dion

“Away in a Manger” is a Christmas carol first published in the 1885 collection Carols for Christmas Tide. The piece was written anonymously, and is commonly attributed to either Martin Luther or James Ramsey Murray.

The carol is sung from the perspective of Mary, mother of Jesus, looking down at her sleeping child. It is included in many Christmas hymnals and has been recorded by various artists such as Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Barbra Streisand, and Andy Williams.

“O Come, All Ye Faithful” – Whitney Houston

“O Come, All Ye Faithful” is a traditional gospel song that has been recorded by many artists over the years. Whitney Houston’s version, from her 1987 album “Whitney”, is one of the most popular and well-loved recordings of the song. The lyrics are based on the biblical story of the birth of Jesus Christ, and the music is traditional English folk melody. Houston’s version features a choir and orchestra, and her powerful vocals are backed by the stirring music. This recording is a must-have for any gospel music fan, and it is sure to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Contemporary Gospel

Contemporary Gospel music is my favorite. I love the way it tells the story of Christmas and how it can reach people who may not necessarily like traditional Christmas music. I have compiled a list of my favorite contemporary Gospel Christmas songs of 2015.

“Mary, Did You Know?” – Pentatonix

With powerhouse vocals, dynamic harmonies, and a message that is both timely and timeless, Pentatonix’s rendition of “Mary, Did You Know?” is one of the best gospel Christmas songs of 2015.

Pentatonix is a five-person a cappella group that rose to fame after winning the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off in 2011. Since then, they have released three albums, including a holiday album, That’s Christmas to Me, which featured their cover of “Mary, Did You Know?”

“Mary, Did You Know?” is a contemporary gospel song with lyrics that ask Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, if she knew about the miracles her son would perform while on Earth. The song was originally written and recorded by Christian singer and songwriter Mark Lowry in 1991, but it was Pentatonix’s cover that launched the song into the mainstream.

With its soulful melodies and powerful message, Pentatonix’s “Mary, Did You Know?” is one of the best gospel Christmas songs of 2015.

“Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” – David Archuleta

“Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” is a contemporary gospel Christmas song by David Archuleta. The song was released on November 10, 2015, and was produced by David Archuleta and Brian Dixon.

“Joy to the World” – Kirk Franklin

One of the most popular contemporary gospel songs of 2015, “Joy to the World” by Kirk Franklin was originally released as part of the album The Sweetest Sounds of Christmas. The song features Franklin’s trademark soulful sound, and includes a number of his trademark ad-libs throughout. The lyrics are based on the traditional Christmas carol of the same name, and tell the story of Jesus’ birth from a unique perspective.
