Creamfields is an annual electronic dance music festival held in the United Kingdom, usually in late August. The festival, which was founded by Cream nightclub and is now run by live music promoters Live Nation, has been held in a variety of locations including London, Chester and Daresbury.

The original Creamfields took place on Sunday 26 August 1996 on Shirley Road playing host to 15,000 clubbers. The one-day event was headlined by Carl Cox and Paul Oakenfold and also featured sets from Danny Rampling and Tall Paul.

In 1997 the festival expanded to two days (Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 August) and moved to Luton Hoo Estate, Bedfordshire. The event saw 60,000 people attending over the weekend with big name DJs such as Sasha & John Digweed, Pete Tong, David Morales and Roger Sanchez performing. Oasis were booked as the Saturday night headliners with The Prodigy closing the festival on Sunday night.

Since then Creamfields has gone on to become one of the UK’s leading outdoor electronic music festivals.
