History
The Brooklyn-based psychedelic rock band, Moon Hooch, was formed in 2004 by Wenzl McGowen and Mike Wilbur, two students at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. The band’s name was inspired by the nickname given to Wilbur by his fellow students, which referred to the large, bushy eyebrows he shares with actor Rick Moranis. The band’s music is a mix of jazz, blues, and electronic dance music, and has been compared to the likes of Pretty Lights and Lotus.
Formation

First album
Psychedelic rock band Animal Collective released their first album, Here Comes the Indian, in 2003. The album was met with critical acclaim, and the band’s unique sound and experimental approach to songwriting and production won them a devoted following. Here Comes the Indian is considered a seminal work in the “psych-folk” genre, and its influence can be heard in the music of subsequent generations of artists.
Second album
In June 2007, the band released their second album, entitled Arrow. The album was recorded in Woodstock, New York at producer Adam Lasus’s Klangbad Studios (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Yo La Tengo, Helium). Kinf expresses his excitement about the new album, saying “The songs on Arrow are way more personal and about my own life experiences than anything I’ve ever written before.” The first single from the album is entitled “Gold” and was released to radio on May 22.

The band was formed in 2004 by George Coleman (lead vocals, guitar), Jeffery Morrisroe (bass guitar), and Jonathan Hockaday (drums). The three had all been previously involved in the music scene in Raleigh, North Carolina.After moving to Brooklyn, the trio began playing shows around the city.
The band’s debut album, 13th Street Promenade, was released in 2005. The album was recorded in Coleman’s bedroom and was self-released on the band’s own label, Curious Sounds.
