A study published in the journal Science found that listening to funk can increase your level of motivation. The study showed that people who listened to funk were more likely than those who listened to other genres of music to choose a challenging task over an easy one.
In another study, published in the journal PLOS ONE, people who danced to funk had lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol afterwards than those who danced to other genres of music. The History of Uptown Funk
“Uptown Funk” is a song by English record producer Mark Ronson featuring American singer and songwriter Bruno Mars. It was released on 10 November 2014 as the lead single from Ronson’s fourth studio album, Uptown Special (2015). The song was written by Ronson, Mars, Jeff Bhasker, Phillip Lawrence, and Nikki Williams; produced by Ronson\/Mars\/Bhasker; and features additional writing from Nicholas Williams. “Uptown Funk” is heavily inspired by Bruno Mars’ idols: James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic.
The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart for 14 consecutive weeks (non-consecutively), becoming the second longest-running number-one single of 2015 and of all time. The single also won two Grammy Awards: Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo\/Group Performance. The song became the first to achieve seven weeks at number one in Australia, while also becoming the longest running number one hit in Australia by a foreign artist in ARIA history, surpassing Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (2007), which held the previous record with six weeks atop the Australian Singles Chart. Additionally, it achieved the feat of spending 31 consecutive weeks within Billboard’s Top 5 songs of any genre during 2015\/2016 – longer than any other pop song since 1960\/1961 – while also having topped both Billboard’s Adult Contemporary Radio Songs chart and Adult Pop Songs charts simultaneously for 17 consecutive weeks during the same period – longer than any other pop song since 1993 – thus ousting Maroon 5’s “Sugar” as both Billboard’s longest running number one Adult Contemporary Radio Songs chart hit and its longest run at number 1 on its Adult Pop Songs chart. Overall, “Uptown Funk” spent 31 consecutive weeks in Billboard’s Top 5 singles across all genres during 2015\/2016 – tied with OutKast’s “Hey Ya!” for most weeks ever spent in that region during a 52-week calendar year period.
