The Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group’s musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock. The band’s original lineup, originally composed of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak, and drummer Jack Irons, won critical acclaim for their debut album, The Red Hot Chili Peppers (1984). Following Slovak’s death from a heroin overdose in 1988 and Irons’ departure from the band in 1989, workaround guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith joined the band.

Red Hot Chili Peppers entered a commercial hiatus following the release of One Hot Minute (1995), during which Frusciante left the band to focus on his solo career. After signing with Virgin Records, the group released their seventh album Californication (1999) which became their second most successful album after Blood Sugar Sex Magik selling more than fifteen million copies worldwide. That same year howeversaw supplemental drug use within the band come to a head resulting in Smith temporarily leavingthe band , leaving them without a drummer for several shows . Despite this state of affairs ,the album would go on to win five Grammy Awards .After two years without releasing any new music ,the chili peppers surprised fans by releasing their eighth studio album ,By the Way(2002) . The process was again tumultuous for the group as Slovak’s widow sued them over royalties while Frusciante quit sometime during or shortly after recordingwas completed ,with Josh Klinghoffer taking over rhythm guitar duties permanently

Parliament- Flash Light

In 1978, Parliament released “Flash Light,” the first single from their album Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome. The song, which was written by bandleader George Clinton, bassist Bootsy Collins and keyboardist Bernie Worrell, became one of the group’s biggest hits, reaching number one on the R&B singles chart and number sixteen on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song’s accompanying music video was directed by Collins and Clinton, and it features the band performing in a variety of wacky costumes and sets.
