Ludacris
Ludacris is another rapper who has found crossover success in the world of rock music. In 2006, he collaborated with rock band Fall Out Boy on the remix of their song “This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race.” The following year, he collaborated with Maroon 5 on the remix of their song “Wake Up Call.” Ludacris has also dabbled in acting, appearing in films such as The Fast and the Furious franchise.

In recent years, there has been an influx of rappers covering rock songs. While some might see this as an odd pairing, the two genres have actually always had a lot in common. Both rappers and rockers tend to be rebels who defy convention and celebrate individuality.

Rappers Who Have Paid Tribute to Rock Music

While it is not uncommon for artists from different genres to collaborate, it is still somewhat surprising when two very different genres pay tribute to each other. This is especially true when one genre is dominant in the mainstream and the other is considered a niche interest. In the past, we have seen country artists pay tribute to rock stars, and pop stars perform covers of country songs. However, it is not often that we see rappers give props to rock musicians.

Interestingly enough, there have been several instances where rappers have shown love for rock music and even gone so far as to pay tribute to some of the genre’s biggest stars. In some cases, the tributes are very direct, with rappers performing covers of well-known rock songs. Other times, the rappers will name-drop specific rock bands or songs in their own tunes, or sample classic rock tracks in their beats.
