Dr. Dre was born Andre Romelle Young on February 18, 1965, in Compton, California. He was raised in an abandoned warehouse that his mother turned into low-income housing. Early life and musical beginnings

Premier was born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Prairie View, Texas.[2][3] He began his career as a DJ in New York City, first working the turntables at radio station WBLS in 1989. WBLS helped him connect with K-DEF and D-Nice (from Boogie Down Productions). Premier’s first production credit was for hip hop group Gang Starr’s “Manifest”, which he produced in 1992. In 1993, he produced “Movin On” and “Too Much Joy”, two singles that gained the duo enough buzz to be signed by Chrysalis Records.

In 1994, he collaborated with MC Eiht and DJ Fat Joe on the track “Better Way” for Eiht’s album We Come Strapped.
