Shemekia Copeland- America’s Child

Shemekia Copeland’s new album, America’s Child, is one of the best blues albums of the year. It’s a soulful, deeply personal record that Copeland has dedicated to her late father, the legendary bluesman Johnny Copeland. Samantha Fish- Belle of the West

Samantha Fish’s seventh studio album, Belle of the West, is a rootsy, 12-song set that was recorded in Memphis with producer Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars). The Kansas City-based guitarist and singer/songwriter wrote or co-wrote all but two of the tracks, which find her experimenting with different sounds and styles while staying true to her blues roots. The album’s first single, “Kill or Be Kind,” is a catchy, upbeat tune that features Fish’s signature guitar licks and impassioned vocals. Other standouts include the slow-burning “Cheryl Wheeler,” the slide guitar-drenched “Downtown,” and the soulful ballad “TryNotToCry.” With Belle of the West, Fish continues to establish herself as one of the preeminent young blues artists working today.

Larkin Poe are an American roots rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, consisting of sisters Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell. The band is named after their great-great-grandfather, Arkansas minister and musician Aaron Poe. The sisters grew up steeped in Appalachian music and began performing together as teenagers. They received national attention in 2013 for their rendition of the song “Rollin’ and Tumblin'” on YouTube, which went viral and led to an appearance on Conan.

The band released their debut album, Kin, in 2014, followed by Reskinned in 2016 and Venom & Faith in 2018. Their fourth album, Self-Made Man, is set to be released on June 12, 2020.

Larkin Poe have been nominated for two Grammy Awards and have won two Blues Music Awards. They have been described as “one of the most exciting new bands in music” by Rolling Stone magazine and “the most exciting act in roots music today” by Billboard magazine.
