Os Mutantes

Formed in 1966, Os Mutantes were one of the first and most important Brazilian psychedelic rock bands. They were a part of the Tropicalia movement, which incorporated elements of Brazilian music with international styles like psychedelia and avant-garde. The band’s sound was a melting pot of influences, including bossa nova, samba, rock, and experimental music. Os Mutantes released six studio albums between 1968 and 1972 before breaking up. They reunited in 2006 and have been active since, releasing three more albums.

Legiao Urbana

Legiao Urbana was a Brazilian rock band formed in Brasília in 1984. The band’s most well-known lineup consisted of Renato Russo (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dado Villa-Lobos (lead guitar, backing vocals), Eduardo Brasil (bass guitar) and Marcelo Bonfá (drums).

The band was one of the most prominent representatives of Brazilian rock music of the 1980s, with hits such as “Será”, “Eduardo e Mônica”, “Geração Coca-Cola”, “Faroeste Caboclo” and “Que País É Este?”. Legiao Urbana’s lyrics are marked by social themes such as consumerism (“Geração Coca-Cola”), teenage love (“Eu Sei”), urban violence (“Faroeste Caboclo”) and political corruption (“Que País É Este?”).

The band’s musical style is characterized by its hybridization of Brazilian pop music with British and American rock from the 1960s and 1970s. In its early years, the band was influenced by bands such as The Beatles, The Police, Led Zeppelin, Kiss and Queen. As the band’s career progressed, it began to experiment with different musical styles, incorporating elements of punk rock, ska, hard rock and alternative rock into its sound.

Legiao Urbana released seven studio albums during its career: Legião Urbana (1985), Dois (1986), Que País É Este? (1987), As Quatro Estações (1989), V (1991), A Tempestade ou O Livro dos Dias (1993) and Uma outra Estação (1995). The band has sold over 20 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling Brazilian rock bands of all time.

Raul Seixas

Raul Seixas was a Brazilian singer-songwriter, known for his innovative and influential work in rock music. His best-known songs include “Metamorfose Ambulante” and “Sociedade Alternativa”. He was born in Salvador, Bahia, and died in São Paulo.

Titas

Titas is a Brazilian rock band formed in 1982 in São Paulo. The band’s original lineup consisted of vocalist Tony Bellotto, bassist Branco Mello, drummer Charles Gavin, and guitarist Marcelo Fromer.

The group’s debut album, Cabeça Dinossauro, was released in 1986 and became one of the best-selling albums in Brazil. It included the song ” Epitáfio”, which was later covered by American rock band Pearl Jam.

Titas has released nine studio albums, two live albums, and one compilation album. The band has won two Latin Grammy Awards and six MTV Video Music Awards Brazil.

Secos & Molhados

Secos & Molhados is one of the most popular and influential psychedelic rock bands from Brazil. The band was formed in Belo Horizonte in 1970, and their music is a mix of Brazilian folk, rock, and roll. They released their self-titled debut album in 1972, which was followed by two more albums, ‘Fome de Amor’ (1973) and ‘Secos & Molhados 3’ (1974). The band eventually split up in 1975, but they have reunion tours every few years.
