What is it like being a black gay country music singer?

Being a black gay country music singer is unique. I often get asked what it’s like and the answer is, it’s like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. I get to bring my music to a whole new audience and I get to break down barriers and stereotypes.

The industry’s reaction

The industry’s reaction to my music has been mixed. I’ve had some people in the industry tell me that my music is “too country” for the black community and “too black” for the country community. I’ve also had people tell me that my music is refreshing and that I’m exactly what the industry needs.

I think that the industry is slowly but surely catching up to where the country music audience is, which is much more open-minded and tolerant than it was even just a few years ago.

I’m hopeful that one day there will be more black gay country music singers, because I think we have a lot to offer to the genre.

His fans’ reaction

Since coming out as gay, Tyrone Smith has faced some backlash from fans of country music. However, he says that the majority of his fans have been supportive. “I think people are ready for this,” he says. “I’m just glad that I can be myself and do what I love.”

What does the future hold for Tyrone Smith?

Tyrone Smith is a Black gay country music singer whose career is on the rise. After years of struggling to find his place in the music industry, Tyrone’s unique sound and style is finally starting to get the attention it deserves. With a new album in the works and a nationwide tour in the planning, Tyrone’s future looks bright. But what does the future hold for this talented young musician?

His plans

With the release of his self-titled EP, black gay country music singer Tyrone Smith is ready to take the world by storm.

The six-track project, which was crowdfunded on Kickstarter, is a mix of country and R&B that tells the story of Smith’s life as a gay black man.

“I want people to feel seen and heard,” Smith said. “I want them to feel like they’re not alone.”

The 30-year-old from Tulsa, Oklahoma, is the first openly gay black man to sign with a major country music label. He’s also the only out LGBTQ artist signed to Warner Music Nashville.

“It’s been quite a journey,” Smith said. “When I first came out, I was kind of in the closet in my music career. I was worried about what people in the industry would think or say.”

But Smith said he realized that he couldn’t be true to himself if he wasn’t honest about who he was.

“I decided that I wanted to be an example for other people who might be in the same situation,” he said. “If I could be myself and be successful, then hopefully it would give others the courage to do the same.”

Smith said he hopes his music will help break down barriers and open minds.

“I think there’s a lot of ignorance when it comes to LGBT issues, especially in country music,” he said. “But I believe that love is love, and that’s what my music is all about.”

His hopes

Tyrone Smith, 31, wants to inspire other black gay men to pursue their dreams. “When I was younger, I didn’t have any black gay country music singers to look up to,” he says. “I want to be that for someone else.”

Smith is originally from a small town in Mississippi and now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. He says he struggled with his sexuality for many years before coming out in his 20s.

“It was hard growing up black and gay in the South,” he recalls. “There wasn’t a lot of acceptance.”

But Smith says he’s found more acceptance in the country music community than anywhere else. “People in country music have been so supportive,” he says. “They’ve welcomed me with open arms.”

Smith recently released his debut album, “Southern Gentleman.” He says he hopes his music will help break down barriers and show that black gay men can succeed in country music.
